slow-ish morning.....
I came across all my old Gleneagles membership bag tags recently and for all my time there we were issued either with a thick leather one embossed or a beautiful metal one with the eagle incorporated every year. They attached to your bag with a leather strap.

My old clubs and my new one has a flexible piece of rubber that you attach this years 'sticker' to it with the year.

You carry this wherever you go on the planet and I feel it reflects on the club if it's good, or if it's poor.
my Gleneagles tags were always a talking point as they looked superb (will post pics soon).

In the scheme of things I don't think it would be that expensive for clubs to improve the tags that bear their name.

whats yours like?

We have the 'standard' circular plastic disk with club name on it and we get a different coloured sticker each year.

I like what you are saying, something a bit classy or unusual does reflect well on the club. I played Dubai Creek a few years ago and the visitor tag is a nice plastic one with your name on it, makes it look like you are a member :)

a sort of metal shield with the club Logo on the front and a sticker on the back for the date, attached to a leather strap.

looks nice, much better than the round bit of plastic most other clubs have.

The one you get from the Carnegie Club, is a 3 inch sq brushed steel affair with your name engraved on it, nice touch

Tell you what, I'll put a motion before our AGM next year. Great quality bag tags for all. Subs up £15 to pay for them. :)

Seriously, possibly a nice touch but think it's more a reflection on the cost of a club than the quality tbh. If showing that off floats your boat then they sound ideal. Can't say it's the sort of thing I'd be particularly impressed by.

Edit: We have none at my current club and other clubs I've joined have had the bog standard plastic + coloured sticker.

We have the usual plastic one with a new sticker every year.

I would be in favour of a better quality one, it looks good and reflects well on the club. It would not increase annual fees but rather could be a one off payment when you sign up as a new member. Cannot see it as costing more than a tenner and could even come as part of a membership pack with all of the details and diary, a nice bag tag, a pitch mark repairer and a ball marker. You would not need to change every year as you would still have the same sticker, albeit probably on the back. If not compulsory, it could at least be a voluntary purchase.

We spend enough on nice bags etc that we like the look of so while spoil it with a cheap piece of plastic on the side.

We have a credit card size tag with a passport size photo and different colour card for different grades of membership. They are handed in at renewal time and my photo amazingly shows me with some colour in my hair (it must be at least 10 years old).

I can certainly see the benefit of that for ensuring only members use the course. You could stick my bog standard tag on any bag and I doubt anyone would question whether it was me or anyone else using the course.

Same as most a plastic disk with this years sticker on it. Not really sure why we bother, as we have no course marshals checking tags or green fee stickers, so all a bit pointless really.

Only ours are ever checked is in the summer evening as we had a spate of people coming on to the course to play without paying after the pro shop shut. Apparently we had 4 balls from other clubs nearby turning up and walking onto the course after about 6.30. As they could clearly play and looked the part etc nobody questioned them

We have a credit card sized plastic tag, with a nice historical image of the course on one side and the valid year etc on the other. The background colour of the card changes every year to make it easier to spot old tags.

Mine lives in a bag pocket as I've misplaced the strap for it !
