Ours are just teaching pros, one of them is currently playing more than doing anything else with a view to being competitive when he becomes a senior, expect hed be +1. The other teaching pro rarely plays, expect hed be 2 or 3 currently but given time to practise and play more would get back to scratch pretty quickly

Probably scratch, he said the other day he'd be happy to break 80 nowadays but I expect that was one of those 'golf professional' jests.

He does have a PB of 7 under and that had 2 bogies on it :p

One of the Pros was +2 at Jimbob's place as an amateur and successful County player.

A knackered back means he can't play a all these days - he couldn't move for 9 months a few years ago.

The other plays of +2 in any of the comps he plays and doesn't disgrace it.

To open a new 9 hole course I arranged a 10 a side challenge game between the counties top amateurs and a group of local club pros.
No money changed hands [as I was a cheapskate] so they were playing for pride.

Everyone thought it would be a walk in the park for the amateurs as they had a strong team that included two current full England players. The British boys Champ and the Brabazon winner
The only player of real note for the Pros was Gary Emmerson, shortly before he joined the tour.

The pros romped home in style much to everyone's surprise.

I would always favour the pros:thup:

Men who have learned their trade and have the fortitude to play well to pay the mortgage and eat:eek: over county players who mostly play for fun and local pride...

It also shows the vast chasm between county elite and basic pro's

Couldn't put a figure on it, but a couple of years ago our club pro played 6 full rounds in one day for charity. He was under par on every single round.

I would imagine he could still get around well below scratch if he played more than once a year. He played on the European Tour though the 70's. But hardly touches a club except for the odd match for the club V's other Club Pro's.

I've watched him hit the odd ball while giving lessons and still has it.

In a match a few months ago he he had to play against anther pro and there club Captain said he made there;s look like a 10 handicap.

Ours still plays senior tour events in Europe every now and again and is and incredible player. Several British Opens and played in Walker cup opposite Mickelson and with McGinley etc.

If he dropped his pro status and started playing Am tourney's again would be surprised if he was not at least +2.

Ours would be off about scratch of plus one at our place but he does admit it's tight and tough so would expect him to be off +3 at most other courses. His best at our place so far has been two under and I have heard he hit -6 at a local pro am.
