Merry Christmas!

Technique aside, what's the best club you've ever had/used from the sand? Specifically I'm referring to greenside bunkers. My old man is harping on about the Ping Eye 2 SW being the best thing ever out of sand. What is/was it for you guys?

I was using my 56 degree Burner 2.0 SW and it was ok, now I've been forced to change and my 58 Vokey is doing a superb job and the ball is definatly stopping a lot quicker compared to the Burner so all in all I'm glad I was forced into the change.

I have an MD low bounce wedge that really cuts through the sand

Escaping bunkers is all about technique. Any wedge with good technique will work.

agree with this, but also add any club, not just wedge, with good technique will work.

Seve with a 3 iron at greenside bunkers anyone:whistle:

It depends very much on the type of sand and the course conditions, ie: dry, wet, very wet.

Fine sand needs more bounce, course less. Wet conditions less, dry more. Loft is not a major factor, you can open the face to create more and hitting harder will project the ball farther if you use the same technique. Think splashing sand onto the green.

Tough one really. I loved one of my first SW I ever owned. Back in about 1990 when I was new to the game I had a Wilson Staff RM bladed SW that I loved. I do love my Mizzy MPT4 58 though and I am pretty damn good out the bunkers with it. Tough to stay which is the best though as I am a lot better at playing bunker ***** now.

TM ZTP/XFT 54 for dry sand, 60 for when it's wet or when the sand has all but washed out of the bunkers. I'll never understand why TM pulled the plug on these wedges. I don't even think you can get the replaceable faceplates any more
