There are a few young members in our club who, on a cold, busy day, hire a couple of buggies & proceed to travel round the course, being held up every shot, getting colder & colder because they're nor walking & having little conversation with two of their fellow competitors. Why do they do it? Are they lazy, want to reserve their energy for something else? I really don't understand. If I could only play with the help of a buggy I'm not sure I'd want to carry on playing. Does your club have people like these? Are you one of them? If so, please explain.

They are young enough to still enjoy driving things. I am also amazed by the number of youngster who have electric trolleys. Thought they were only for old geezers like me, although I usually carry a half set of clubs in the Winter! 🙄

Young or old; it makes no difference at our Club.

No buggies allowed on the course throughout the winter months.

Because that's they're personal preference and if that's how they like to play what's it to anybody else. Personally I don't use buggys, never have done, always carried until recently but if it keeps golfers coming back putting money into the game because they enjoy it more then really what difference does it make?

Not saying they shouldn't. Just trying to understand why they do it. I, & most of the people I play with, hate using buggies, especially when it's cold. Only time I've used one is abroad in very hot weather, when everyone else was using them. Still thought it took something away from the experience.

Why don't you just ask them ?

If it's taking away from they're experience then I'm sure they will start walking soon enough, I would never choose to use a buggy mainly because I like the exercise but i don't think I would enjoy it less if my pp were also using a buggy

there are a few guys at mine that use buggies on a reg basis. the reason they are old and could't get around the course without them. using them still allows them to play the game they love.

They probably enjoy the driving aspect. It's fun to them, a novelty. Electric ones in particular can be pretty nippy.

My lad is always badgering me to hire a buggy. It's my money though, get walking 😁.

In my experience at some courses I think they try to bulldoze their way through the field by constantly being right up the backside of the group in front.
Luckily at our place the youngsters generally carry and the buggys are used by the people that struggle to walk due to age, injury or lack of a leg!

I like having buggies, but the main course I play they aren't allowed. I've had many fun years zipping around in one, even rolled one, Jackass style.

Happy with any form of transport or not, as long as play not held up unduely.

Maybe it's to save them having to lug round their beers? Much easier to stick them in the basket.
