my first clue is usually a rubbish advert on tv around July but somehow I block it out. Next, I will be wandering the aisles of a supermarket and somehow manage find a stack of mince pies in August. Things really start to get serious at this point. I get loads of requests from my staff for odd days off to go shopping. The weather starts to go downhill and getting a dry round of golf in becomes a real difficulty. I am then asked to arrange (pay for) the staff party. The main clue, however, is when I receive a 5 pack of underpants and socks. That's when I kick back and enjoy the moment

Update --- Seemingly the PC brigade have recently decided The Pogues " Fairytale of New York" is now inappropriate for radio play. After they discovered the word "*** " hidden in the lyrics , after about 30 odd years.
