There was me, fed up with golf and looking to take a few weeks off. Nothing was further from my mind than getting the clubs out. Then I stupidly manage to break my big toe on Sunday and end up with an enforced 6 week hiatus and now I cannot stop thinking about how I cannot go golfing. Really annoying. Taking all my willpower to stay off ebay and stop buying kit for my return to fitness.

Isn't it always the way, if you decide not to do something it is fine, if someone tells you you cannot do something then doing that thing becomes the most important thing in the world.

Oh, that sucks. Get well soon. But try to see the positive: now is probably the best time of year to do this. It would have sucked much more if it happened in April/May. Plus you will probably find that the enforced break does your game good. Maybe you can even throw some putting practice in ... everyone can always do with more putting practice :smirk:

I missed the whole of 2009 season due to 2 knee ops, I got back to playing mid September and whilst I was laid up I got engrossed in watching the whole series of 24, and if it wasn't for that I'd of been climbing up the wall, in a strange way I didn't miss it as I knew I would be back playing, but if it was something that would stop me playing altogether...............

welcome to my world,i have been off since august 26th ,i tore all the muscles off of my knee cap and had an op to have it all stitched back on.i have been in traction for seven weeks now and have a further week to go,then its going to be a long haul getting the muscles back to full strength before i can even think about venturing out on the course again.
its been a bloody nightmare ,i think i have trawled all of ebay looking at golf associated stuff as well as cars.
also been on the box sets and da vincis demons has been the best yet, series three is being shown on the fox channel now.
good luck with your recovery and hope you are shooting the lights out soon.

Some hard stories on here and hope all the recoveries go well. To be honest though try and be pragmatic and realise we're heading into winter golf where the forecast may not be great (downright terrible tomorrow in Berkshire apparently) and so you're not really missing too much.

I know a guy at our club who broke his arm. Still turned up every Saturday morning and walked with his friends who were playing their game
