A golf pal was explaining his round from last week and bemoaning his cruel luck. I just thought I'd post a brief note of what happened, none of which he did anything other than play on as it lay.

First, he was mid swing when he heard a call of fore, immediately a ball hit a tree a few feet from him and he saw a ball shoot past his eye line. He jerked backwards and sliced his ball into the cabbage

Second, he was on his down swing when someone's ball hit the shaft of his club and caused him to mishit his shot

Third, and NO, he didn't get hit! He was on the fairway, played a good shot and as the ball came down he saw it bounce high and shoot sideways. When he got to the landing point a player had walked back and told him that he'd left his club on the ground and my mate had gone and landed his ball on it.

This is an absolute true store, I'll have to find a suitable nickname for him

Can you give rulings please guys!

nothing to rule on is there? Just sounds like a run of very bad luck.

There's something to rule on now. What is the meaning of rub of the green?

Well there's always the RoG Definition: Rub Of The Green
A “rub of the green’’ occurs when a ball in motion is accidentally deflected or stopped by any outside agency (see Rule 19-1).

But, like 'Lost Ball', the RoG definition doesn't need to reflect reality. So the common meaning for the expression - random luck, good or bad - is just as valid - unless used in a specific RoG context.

@OP. Can you tell us the Course? Seems like a rather dangerous one!
