HID is treating me to a Covert 2.0 driver for Father's Day this year. She ordered it online. She stated that should we not be in please leave with a neighbour on the delivery instructions.
I tracked it online and when delivered it stated "Left with neighbour at No. 12. I texted HID and told her. When she arrived home there was a card from Yodel saying "Package left behind back gate"...she went to the back gate and guess what....!!!! No package.
She knocked on No 12 and no package there either.
Rang the company she ordered it from who are going to be in touch after they speak to Yodel.

I have some inside dealings with yodel and tbf I blame the retailers. Yodel provide the service set out by the slas and if u saw how much the major retailers are paying for the package you would understand the service provided.
They are under instruction to get deliveries off by the retailers so there is no charge for another attempt.

If the driver put on his pda that the package is at number 12 I expect the package at number 12...why put a card in door saying it left behind rear gate? Is that the retailers fault?

Yodel are the pits- I now do not order from any company that delivers via Yodel- they will get the message if all customers do the same

they 'delivered' an expensive package to my office, they didnt of course, retailer checked with Yodel and they had a record of a person signing for it, a Mr Brown (there is no Mr Brown in the whole building).

Retailer organised another and 4 days later Yodel turned up with the original package.

So they had blatantly lied to the retailer and hadnt delivered. I've heard this story from other people as well.

To blame the retailers is nonsense, I dont hear any complaints about DPD who give faultless service, I can even track where the driver is and get regular texts about delivery time, even the drivers name!

Yodel are just shoddy and if you really have inside dealings you would know that

I am not doubting that. I am saying that it's down to price. How much do you think the average retailer are paying yodel compared to someone like dpd?

And just to note, I am not defending them. Just I know, despite what retailers say that it's the old adage of only being able to ever have 2 of the following 3.
Cheap
Fast
Service

Yodel work on what retailers choose - cheap and fast rather than customer service

Dont touch them - neither do amazon now plus a few other companies. Believe they also used to deliver for John Lewis but lost that as well

Sports Direct use them. Read into that what you will;)

Although to redress the balance slightly Ive used SD loads and never had a single problem with the delivery, then again the driver for our area lives round here so its probably in his interests to get it right!

I've had loads of aggro with yodel as well but more on the pick up side of things, not turning up on said date,no time slots unlike DPD and others.Barge pole touch them wouldn't as Yoda would say.

OK so the explanation seems to be they are rubbish but what do you expect at that price?

How would you justify that approach with your product? No way I ever could with mine!

New shineys?! Bit of a change!

Why would you buy them and take away a large share of their volume? Hardly business sense.

Well they have bought 5% and im guessing yodel do make a profit so now they have a share of thoses as well. If Amazon start using yodel again ( understand they did a number years back ) then they would expect better service than Yodel currently provide

Your incorrect about amazon. They have just bought 5% of the company from the Barclay brothers.

Have they actually bought 5%? I know they acquired/were granted an option to buy 4.2% (from the Barclay brothers for £8.7M open until 2022) that was initially announced as 'Amazon buys stake in Yodel from Barclay brothers'!
