Well after being fit for my Ping driver late last year I have been struggling to find any consistancy with it so I decided to go for a Titleist driver fitting.

It was at Tadmarton Heath Golf Club in Oxfordshire and the head pro John was my fitter. I went in with an open mind and the results really shocked me.

I warmed up for a bit then we moved onto the fitting itself. He got me to hit half a dozen balls with my own driver which he said due to my angle of attack clearly wasn't working. The ball speed was 156-158mph with a total distance of about 260 yards with a push slice.

He then got me to try the 910D2 9.5 with the stock Kai'li stiff shaft and the results were unbelievable. My ball speed all of a sudden went up to 168mph peaking at 171mph and the total yardage was 296!! He said it was the biggest gain he's ever seen with a low handicap golfer, normally he reckons if they find you 5-10 yards then that is a very good result. I found a additional 30-35 yards and my ball flight was a soft draw which is my natural shape.
We messed around with the setting but it ended up being best in the A1 position.

Needless to say I'm over the moon with the results.

Nice write up, I had the same thing with the Kai`li shaft when I had a mock fitting with Callaway. I was blasting the ball that night with sunday best drives but the ball was just so high that I was losing distance.

The fitter went away and came back with a real Kai`li and it was a eureka moment. I have to say I am a mid/high handicap and have more room to move than you but I do love that shaft and have the "made for" in my 3 wood, its not much different to the orginal. I believe the tip is a little softer is all.

Anyway grats on the new toy and the booming drives, another few yards and you will be up with the forum average :D.

Yes I've seen the light I've used Titleist drivers in the past but I didn't like the 907 or 909's.

My wallet is very light too I had to spend £260 on 2 new tyres for my car today as well.

Out of interest what did the 910 cost you with a stock shaft option?

Also did you try any other shafts or did you feel you had found your Meca?

It was £250 all in, I did try the 910D3 but the D2 was the perfect fit. He said we couldn't improve on the numbers I was getting with the D2 and Kai'li so that's what I went with.

Did you find the D3 to be less forgiving or just different? sorry to press gang you.

I think the head is fairly forgiving but I tried it with the RIP shaft which didn't suit me. If you go for a fitting then have an open mind. I was expecting an extra stiff 8.5 D3 as my clubhead speed is around 112-115mph but my swing type match that spec.

I have had a hit with the D3 as its what my pal has and it felt sweet but I have to be careful not to get anything thats too edgy on off center hits. I already know what shaft I want as its what I have in my 3 wood and have been fitted for it a few times. I think it will be a D2 9.5(again I play better with the 8.5 but what the forgiveness of the extra degree) with a stiff Kai`li. I will be looking for a 2nd hand one later in the year.

I must say when I saw the OP I was shocked that you were not an XS looking at your other shafts.

My guess is that the D3 is a little more fun but maybe a little less forgiving.

I've got the Kai'li stiff shaft in my 910 d3 and really, really like it.

Everyone else seemed to end up with the RIP shaft though, good to see I'm not a total freak. In this sense.

For me the RIP was a nasty plank of wood with no feel at all and a nasty high launch, I hate it. The Kai`li is the other end of the scale for me.

Very interesting read in that half of the story above is exactly what I am experiencing. I was fitted the i15 driver by a well known golfing outfit nr J10 of the M25 around 18 months ago. My swing speed is about 155 with a same carry of 260. The shape is mainly a push or slight fade on the course (but a draw on the range....typical!). I don't like the fact that it is 2 degs open so I have been looking at other big dogs...the trouble is I love the look and sound of the ping! I have tried the 910, Nike VR Pro and TM R11 TP but not with using a LM thus I don't really know what the ball stats are with them. Perhaps it time to do what you did and talk to a pro fitter....

I would definitely recommend it. I feel so much more confident knowing I can sling one from right to left without the fear of hitting a push slice.

I played my first round with mine on Saturday and didn't hit a single push slice. Every drive was a slight draw and long, I had a couple of 290 yard carries down wind (GPS confirmed) even in poor conditions.
