what type of feel do they have?.I'm looking for a softer feel putter for the faster summer greens and like the look of the tracy 2,i fancy using a blade putter again.
I've got a Tracey2 which i think is great however if your looking for something with a soft feel you may need to go for something with an insert in it.
I had the Natalie a while ago, it is very soft feel and light so good for fast greens, I needed something heavier however.
Also had a Callie but didn't think it was anything special.
The c-grooves thing is just their selling gimmick.
Prefer my Scotty.
Well putting has let me down no end, so I have made a effort to put it right this year (no pun intended). I had a lesson with my local pro, and whilst there was problems that needed address with me not being over the ball enough, he agreed that my putter with was too soft.
My putter as a Ping G2i Piper H 34" which I have sinced sold on ebay. I tried several putters, whitlams, scotty camerons, mizunos, new odyessy's, taylor mades and Ping's. I eventually tried the Yes range at a local dealer and found the difference quite a bit. I was leaving quite a few puts short but when I was trying the new Yes Abbie forged putter it was rolling straighter and past the hole compared to the others. I had the club custom fitted and my putting has improved, but its too early to say its superb as I am still getting used to my putter (Only had 1 round).
In a nutshell with my previous Ping putter I had 8 3 putts and 1 4 putt on a round of 88, then with my Yes putter I had one 3 put, and the rest where all acceptable but still need work, i shot at 80 so I am going to contiue to work with this putter, but my advice is to try as many as you can but get a lesson first as it be you and not the putter.
I love the Yes! I have - only problem is I have moved to a new club and the greens are a lot faster so I, may change to a lighter model - mallet is quite heavy - but I rarley lag putts.
When buying I tried every putter in the pro's and AG lifted the Yes! several times so bought it.
Everyone says that putters are a personal choice - just go and try a few different models.
I had a round the other week and met with some random guy who carried two putters, he said he used the heavier one on the slower greens and the lighter one on fast greens. Seemed to work for him, anyone else seen this?
Seen two drivers but never two putters, I use my 5 wood around the lip of the green and that does the job well.
Can see some logic in it but you would have to an awful putter to drop a club for the sake of two putters, Could be worth trying one night?
And how did he test how fast the green was to use his heavy putter in the first place? If one green was like lightning surely the majority would be the same on one course.
i am going to keep odyssey white steel two ball for winter because of the slow greens, bit of ummpf behind my putts.looking for a lighter blade putter for the fast summer greens.thats my argument for owning two putters oldwindy.
I think you should have one but be sure you know how each green reacts to it - ie we have a wet green but the green is still very fast, it plays different to most of the others.
2 putter would mean different feels and it would be hard to get used to in the transaction pariod between seasons. Also which do you use in the summer when its raining?? fast winter putter / slower summer putter?
oldwindy no problem.
ken a plenty of practice should see the transition be a bit smoother, the whole point of changing putters in my eyes is to keep my stoke as smooth and consistant as possible,i'm putting really well at the minuite and dont want to go into summer golf making short stabby strokes on the greens, hence a lighter putter and maybe a soft insert.it may not work but "he who dares rodney".
I have used a short 31" Yes! Callie for a couple years nowand absolutely love it (unlike Birdieman- diff'rent Strokes-Diff'rent Folkes!), definately one of the best clubs in my bag, really gets the ball rolling.
My brother borrowed it and shot his lowest puttin round, and has now bought his own. Highly Recommended, I would advise trying out many different ones and getting fitted using Putt Lab.
Also used my many tour pro's, David Howell uses the Callie, Stephen Ames, Retief Oli Fisher and many more also use Yes!
hi,had putting problems myself recently, more me than the putter, changed my ping heel and toe weighted putter for a odd white hot xg rossie tour model.feel off face is soft and is a nice weight.give one a try.
Personally I prefer insert putters, but when I tried my mates Yes I was surprised at how good the feel was. Not as soft as my ping insert, but very good nonetheless and if you don't use inserts anyway you will think they are brilliant.
