so I am back upto 23 but I played bloody well tbh. Had 4 blobs and 28 points, sounds crap but I had 5 putts for 4 pointers and ended up 3 putting them all for 2, the greens were so sloooooow (doesnt excuse it though).

Ball striking was extremely good and if not for a few pants bounces and bare lies it could have been a lot better. Big thanks to JustOne for some advice on the phone, spent an hour afterwards chipping and putting aswell.

after wanting to give up a week ago I have renewed vigour to practice as just a few range sessions this week has seen my iron play come on immensely, all it was down to was alignment and setup.

If I could putt 40+ points would be a cinch

its the 1st time I have hit the range with a plan, worked on takeaway and also have gone back to a stock fade so trying to ingrain a gentle fade but overcooked it a couplke of times today. sod trying to learn a draw lol! I had the odd errant tee shot but nothing that killed me, no reloads and finished with the same ball.

I have a feeling the putting may be down to ball change from 2 piece to a pro v1 which is obviously softer.

Practice and more practice planned, cant keep rolling up once a week and expect to lower my h/c, the light has finally gone on haha

Slow greens and that cause you to three putt five greens? Slow greens are surely much easier and this should yield better scores.

Knew you wouldn't, most AM's wouldn't either but if they insist on taking the 60* out for a holiday walk then who's to say it's not right.

its the 1st time I have hit the rocketbladez decent for a whole round Colin. Plenty of work to do though but gotta start somewhere, just a shame I have wasted 12 months fannying about with needless swing changes/tweaks

Well I feel I've let the 0.1 club down today. Signed in for medal today and noticed the last comps scoreboard showed i'd gained another 0.1 so back to playing off 9! For weeks now I've said am hitting it well just not scoring etc, well today at last I came good what did I do different! Changed my strategy basically by hitting driver on holes I don't normally use it on and some holes where it gets a regular airing it got left in the bag on!

Dialled the loft on the driver down to 8.5 for the into wind holes and started as I meant to go on really, pars at 1&2 then consecutive bogies at 3&4, but straight pars all the way to the 9th but realistic birdie chances on every hole. Drove through the back of the 13th green and chipped back on stone dead for my only birdie!

The one irritating thing though is I hit every par 5 in 2 and 3 putted everyone of the buggers! :angry: So that's 3 eagle chances in one round and all ended up as par!... So should have been at least 3 shots better out there today, but i'm happy as 76 blows were signed for and should return me to lower than where I started the year on exact handicap and the first time in competitive play I've broken 80 this year.

So next week normal service to resume and i'll be crap again gaining another 0.1 back no doubt :thup:

Missed the stableford yesterday as I've been pretty rough all weekend. No golf at all for me but two competitive rounds next week should see 2 x 0.1 and back to 12 just in time for Woburn and H4H. Not the season I was looking forward to
