Thinking about a new set of shineys for Xmas....

Currently playing i15 and i20 Pings with regular KBS tour 90 shafts. Fitted by Scott Gourlay.

I have quite a high ball flight...too high really in the wind so want to keep it down a bit lower. All my lofts are set at 2 degrees strong...and they are still pretty high but acceptable.

Bought a set of secondhand i25's (same shafts) few weeks ago and they just don't seem to have the distance the other sets have and a slightly higher ball flight plus they seem to all go right.....might need to check the lie on those.

I was thinking about TM Rsi or the new Psi and the Ping I's.

Any thoughts on iron/shaft combinations?

I've Been auditioning irons for the last few months. Just trying different heads to see which I like the feel of. Think in set on some ap2's so I've now booked in with Titleist to get the correct set up ( shaft, lie, length, grip size, lofts etc).

Just have a hit with as many as you can. But get fit if your going to be spending on a new set.

I've just sold on my i20s which had the CFS stiff shaft in them but, like you, I was seeing a high ball flight and suspected lack of distance.

I went to a demo day which had track man set up and when I did the comparison I found that the i20 iron and shaft combination I had were putting a significant amount of backspin on the ball.

Using the various demo clubs and shafts I found that a heavier shaft suited my swing and got a significant increase in distance.

Chris i didn't think your ball flight was that high, anyway you don't have to play at fortrose anymore so why worry about wind;)

The KBS Tour 90 are quite high launching shafts. If you look at KBS' own comparison chart, they are the highest launching, highest spinning shaft in their portfolio. (http://kbsgolfshafts.com/shafts/kbs-tour-90)

Was your ball flight already that high when you got fit for the shafts or did it change afterwards? If the height was similar and he didn't still recommended these shafts, maybe it's not too high after all?
