Some of you will know that I'm changing the top of my bag around.

Since the introduction of my beloved SLDR driver my 13* 3w has become almost redundant and if I change it for a traditional 15* my 17* 4w will also then become redundant as the gaps will be too close I think.

So, I've been looking at matching SLDR fairways (15* & 19*) to my driver but I've been unsuccessful at getting them at the right price/s, but, after reading the "Sales" thread, I came across the X2 fairways on the JamGolf website and they are the price I'm looking to pay for new clubs, but, I have no history with anything Callaway at all!

I have read on here that some of you love the X2 Hot range and I've seen quite a few in your bags, so, are they all that, are they easy to hit, what is so good about them compared to other fairways you've had in the past, what is the difference in the Deep and the normal and the Pro?

Over to you....

Standard fairways are as good as, or better, than anything else out there.
Easy to use and long.
Aldila Blue is a decent shaft.
Pro versions are slightly open, slightly smaller and have no decals on the crown (standard decals are not "in your face"). They use the Aldila Green shaft, a bit more tip-stiff so lower launching and a bit too much for some - I felt I had to swing quite hard to get the best from it.
But if it works for you its a good one.
The Deep models are basically Pro versions with a slightly deeper face - not quite like the SLDR Mini-Driver but getting there. Tougher from the fairway but maybe better from the tee.
All quite long in the shaft.
The 4 wood is almost as long as the 3 but much easier to hit.
Standard models slightly toed-in but not as much as Cally's of the past.
I tend to over-draw the standard version but don't get on with the shaft in the Pro....if I could find a Pro with the Blue in it I'd be happier.

I mentioned these to my lad a few days ago - I'm going through the usual pre-spring ritiual of wanting to put new shinies in my bag. The woods = average, but there's better out there at the same price bracket. The hybrids = worth a punt. The irons = not printable.

Direct Golf released an email yesterday about SLDR & Jetspeed fairway metals...I assume you have checked here?

Yes, I don't like the Jetspeed and wanted to stick with SLDR if I stay with TM to match my driver, I also don't like the (S) silver either. The normal standard SLDR's are not displayed on DG and when I have found them anywhere they are around £50 more than these X2's, hence looking at comparisons. Thanks

In which version Ian?

I've shy'd away for too long not hitting fairways woods off the deck, this is my main reason for the change, all my woods have been off the tee before and only rarely using a 7w off the deck, hence the new hybrid and now this venture.

Both to be honest.....
17° vs 15°, the shaft is the same length from memory - or 1\4 inch in it....
I found it every bit as good as the 3 in the standard.
Not tried a 17 in the Pro but would expect the same.

I bought the X2 Hot 3 deep 14.5 degree at AG the other day. Got a price match with them so grabbed it for £99. Its a great 3 wood, slightly deeper in the face than the normal 3 wood which I find makes it a lot easier to hit. The green Aldila tour shaft in regular suits my swing speed fine, all my previous 3 woods have been regular but this one for some reason gives a much better flight and a bit more distance. I would give it a hit if you can, it is a very easy club to hit in my opinion, will be giving it another outing today at Ramside so we will see how far it travels from the fairway. Much milder today than Monday when I last used it, so I will be able to give it a tonk.

I'm now 90% Callaway and love all the X2Hot range, although my pro says the replacement irons due in February are looking nice, so I may test drive them!

The 3 hybrid came free with the driver and I could only get it with a regular shaft but I JUST LOVE IT! For me it gives about 215 yards but if I lean on it I can get 230. It easy off a tee or the deck and it's staying in my bag for some long time I reckon

I have the X2Hot Pro 3 and 5 fairway woods, and an original X Hot Pro 4 wood.

The shaft in my older club I love, but the new Aldila green I'm not so sold on. I bought an Aldila blue off ebay and am having that put in the 3 wood but I'm not sure when I'll get it back to be able to give a verdict on it.

I also have a strong 3 deep in the older version but just don't get on with it as well as I'd like.

They're fairly easy to hit IMO and go like a rocket off the face, you just need to try them to see if you get on with the shaft.

The older versions can be had pretty cheap brand new if you find somewhere with stock left.

Fangirl here.... Love these clubs. The ball seems to really fly off the face when you hit it right. Driver and fairways all brilliant and I recently acquired a 4 hybrid which is fab too.
