I foolishly removed and sold my 7w and moved to a Hi-Fli 4 iron (which will be up for sale) and its just not working!

At the top of my bag I can hit my 4w 200yds+ off the deck and longer off the tee and like yesterday at Blackmoor I can find myself going through the back of the green, my 5i is a steady 165yds so I have a huge gap that I thought the Mizuno Hi-Fli 4 driving iron would fill, but sadly I'm struggling with it.

I think going back to a 7w is the answer, especially for long par3's circa 175-190 as with the higher ball flight it will come down softer.

I've tried to choke down on the 4w but I'm an "all or nothing" kind of player and I'd rather be coming in high from that distance and I think a 7w will do that for me.

So, anybody got a 7w gathering dust, I would really like to get hold of one before North Hants

Pictures and prices please.

Don't know what you are looking to pay but you can get a Cleveland classic xl new for around £60

A Cleveland would sit nicely alongside my strong 3w (13*) & 4w (17*) which are both Cleveland and more so if it had a Miyazaki stiff shaft, but, happy to try anything to get the job done.

Got 3, 5 and 7 in classic xl fantastic clubs very underrated

The strike marks on that are unbelievable. Nowhere near middle. In fact they are just about on the toe!

Those classic woods look great but are not for anyone who fights a hook.

..and my bad shots are a bit hooky!

Ideally a FL Launcher to match my 3 & 4 but some of the Callaway offerings look interesting, I'm also following a Ping G5, a Launcher and a Titleist 910f. The Launcher has a Mitsubishi Diamana shaft and the Titleist looks to have the better Project X 6.0 Tour shaft, both under £50.

I would certianly suggest giving the Hi Fli a bit longer - find them cracking clubs and so easy to hit

Might be easy at your level the way you strike the ball, but I struggle with it and find myself avoid getting it out, which is no good and thus a waste of time carrying it.

I have a Cleveland Mashie 7 wood with a custom Diamana D+ 72 in stiff flex - real deal shaft (not made for) retailing at $275:

http://www.golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_MR0035

This club has been exceptional for me, but doesn't currently have a home in the bag. I'd be looking at £55 inc delivery - let me know if you're interested and I'll sort a few pics.

Ps. Club comes with the correct / matching headcover.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something but at 20.5 degree's why is it a 7w? All the other 7 woods I have been and are looking at are around 22 degree's, I'm thinking that 20.5 might be too strong?

I thought that was fairly standard for a 7 wood. All Cleveland 7 woods are 20.5*, Nike is 21*, Callaway is 21*, etc. Adams is 22* in the Tight Lies but that is because they gap in 3* from their 16* '3 wood' so I thought 22* was actually less common?

I'm following 3 Cleveland FL Launcher & Launcher 7woods on the bay and they are all 22*, only the Mashie, Gliderails or hybrids are 20.5!

I think I'll pass but thanks for the pics and offer, I want a higher ball flight as described in my OP so looking more towards the 22*.

Ha, that's really odd!! Cleveland's current fairway wood offering is the 588 model and is a 20.5* 7 wood. The other two Cleveland fairway woods I've played are Mashie FW and Classic XL, both of which were 20.5* in the 7 wood.

I can assure you the Mashie 7 wood launches the ball into orbit (but very importantly does not balloon!), but completely understand if you're looking for something a little higher loft.

Good luck with your search. :-)

Fish,

I have a old but functional Yonex ADX 200 7 wood in regular flex. Not as sexy as those above but the best bit is the price - FOC to you if collected (GL6 postcode) and postage at cost if not.

May not be perfect but will get you through for a while to give you time to shop around.

Let me know if you're interested.

Simon

Thanks for the excellent gesture, its what this forum is all about

Unfortunately I really need a stiff shaft though.
