So last night I was at the range with the wife, she needs a bit of practice before a company society game in two weeks. I'd only taken a couple of bats, 5 and nine. I fancied a go with her 5 iron. It zoomed out at least 20 meters beyond mine. What the???? I picked up my 5 and measured it against mine. Guess which was longest. Yup, hers! That's not right. I broke mine two months ago and had the shaft replaced by our "Pro". No wonder it has felt wrong! Guess where I'll be this afternoon?:angry:

Getting a perm :D

But didn't you notice the club having the wrong length compared to your other irons? If it is shorter than a ladies club now, then it is very likely shorter than your six iron (unless your wife has been fitted for longer clubs, which of course is entirely possible). 20 metres is a stark difference, though. Maybe you would profit from slightly lighter shafts? Or maybe your wife's irons are stronger lofted than yours?

Hang on, I thought you were the guy who reckons golf is no place for women??

I'm back

Mine Cleveland CG16 5 iron - loft 24 - length should be 38.5
Wifes Cleveland Altitude (lovely things) 5 iron - loft 24 - length 37.75

Soooooooo. My 5 iron is now currently shorter than her 5 iron but should be 3/4" longer. No wonder.

Good grief!

3/4" isn't going to make a difference of 20 yards. I definitely think you should use ladies clubs

My mate who I play with is struggling big time with his R15 driver (basically slices it into the trees on a regular basis) but his 3 wood is a cheap ladies club he got from god knows where, and when he uses that he melts it straight down the middle 250-260 yards! It beggars belief really. Never uses his driver anymore.

Probably suited to a ladies length and flex

Who really cares if it is pink or purple, think you should use what suits your game. Maybe a little mini skirt and sleeveless blouse to go along with the new clubs ;)
