Lost my 8 iron and severely irritated at this; tried to find a replacement but it's weary as the clubs I'm using are 8 years old, so my options are:

1: Cheaper clubs say Mizuno MP-H5 @ £399 then get them adjusted if necessary later on.

or

2: Save more money get fully fitted at the time clubs say Callaway Apex but it will take another 3-4 months saving?

or

3: Wait and trawl through ebay etc looking for a replacement 8 iron?

Oh.....I thought this thread was going to be about Sarah Stirk

I'd say it depends. Do you have the feeling that you are due new irons anyway and the lost 8 iron is a welcome excuse? Then I'd say save up for the full fitting and treat yourself to a set you are truly convinced about. If your old irons perform well and the missing 8 iron is the only reason you are considering a change then try to get a replacement through ebay or Golfbidder or even take your current set to a fitter and let him help you to figure out a way to bend the remaining clubs a bit to close the gap.

If you like your set then ebay is your friend.

Option A, £399 is not really a cheap option so if you really want the Callaways then wait and save. You don't want to be looking down on a £399 set of clubs and dislike them. After all, if you have to wait 3-4 months then this is the right time of year as the light drawing in reduces the amount of golf time anyway.

In answer to the follow up question, not for me but she seems very pleasant.

New sticks.

Treat yourself :D

I would go to my local pro and get him to source me an 8 iron whilst on the side start saving for a new fitted set

8 years old is nothing, assuming cast clubs etc.

I would be looking for another 8 iron, if I am happy with the current clubs.
