Would you pretend to be sick to get off work to go to a live televised golf tournament?

I was thinking about that lady on the 18th yesterday, I hope she was meant to be there :D

Errrr, yes! In fact, I did a few years ago to watch Tiger at the Wentworth matchplay. Probably the only chance to watch him close-up, so i wasn't going to miss it! A few times i was behind the tee box, but with my cap very firmly turned down!! Turned out that he was stuffed by Shaun Micheel! :D

I'd never take a sicky for anything. I'm fairly lucky in that I can get time off at short notice. I once asked for the afternoon off at about 11:00 to go and watch a mate do something he might not get a chance to do again and was allowed to.

Another mate of mine once took an unauthorised weekend off work to go play in a pool tournament. His team won it and he got his picture in the local paper! Oops.

I went to see the World Snooker Championship a few years ago. I wasn't actually off work sick but I should have been working from home. They put me in the seat next to the players so I was in virtually every camera shot on TV. Needless to say I was spotted by the boss who was at home watching...to be fair to him he was OK about it but it was a little embarrasing.

Never would do. I am now 9 years without a day off sick for anything and am quite proud of that so would never pull a sickie for anything.

It may be an urban myth but I was told that this was the reason that people started to wear fancy dress to cricket matches. Wearing fancy dress stopped people's bosses being able to see them in the crowd when the pulled a sickie to go to the test.

A mate of mine was sacked from British Steel about 93/94,he
should have been working, but he was at the "Ebor" meeting at
York races, his gaffer had been watching it on tv,luckily the union got his job back for him..

You dont think he would??? Would he?
:D

I've chucked a sicke to play golf before. There have been a few stories over the years of people being recognised at big events when they were suppose to be off sick and sacked. Not sure in these days of wall to wall coverage and extensive showings of the highlights that I'd take the risk. Being out on my own course where no-one from work knows I am is a much safer bet

I wouldnt take a sicky to do anything else full stop. As far as i'm concerned that's pretty much fraud or theft or whatever it would be called.
