If you went to be custom fit,or you were told by a pro that the clubs you play at the moment are not suitable for your swing,or your game, would you be willing to change your whole bag.Or would you happily stick with what you have.

If I didn't have the cash to change the bats in the first place, I wouldn't be asking the question. It would mess with my head too much when stood over the ball.

Sometimes in life we don't always have what's perfect for our needs. Golf clubs, cars, houses, jobs, god forbid, even wives!! But we make the best of what we have and try to enjoy life.

15 years ago, c/f was rare, and people played mainly off the rack stuff which probably didn't suit. Were they rubbish? No. On average, handicaps in golf haven't changed much over this time. Not saying it desn't help, but you can make even the most unsuitable stuff work.

If you don't want to know, don't find out.

In the unlikely event that I was told by my pro that I needed new clubs I would consider it without question.

Far more likely is that he would have me persevere with the manufacturer-spec clubs that he had previously prescribed. It is not my club that adds spice to my ball flight; it is very much me.

:D Surely that is the point of Custom Fitting? Why would anyone go for a CF session if the weren't prepared to change clubs?

In most cases people go for a c/f for just irons or driver,im really on about all the clubs in the bag. This is only a hyperthetical question,of course goodish players can play with any club, but if it was pointed out that changing all your clubs would be beneficial, then would you be willing to change?

This happened to me last year.

When I decided to start playing again I bought everything second hand off ebay.
Because I'm the epitomy of the 10 stone weakling, I thought there's no way I want stiff shafts so bought everything with regular in.

I went to Titleist to be fitted for new irons and the guy said I shouldn't be using anything with regular shafts so I ended up changing the whole bag except putter.

If I couldn't have afforded it I'd have made do with the rest of the clubs as I had them, but I could afford it at the time and who doesn't like new shiny??

I pretty much think that you have hit it spot on!

We all have problems with our swing, because if we didn't we would all play closer to scratch, so it stands to reason custom clubs should help. They have made clubs through the decades that attempt to correct inherant swing faults (offset etc)so if your pro custom fits you, with your swing as it is , you should play better as a result

I hope this is so as I will have changed most of my bag this winter!

I went for custom-fit partly because it didn't cost me any extra. Whatever anyone's technical faults might be you should at least make sure the clubs are the right length and the grips are the correct thickness.

I done just that this year the only thing that I still have is a 56 wedge EVERYTHING else has changed. But then I have lost 9 shots this year and my swing has changed completely since last year!
