Lively debate on the 'Marginalised membership' thread. I am looking to do a poll on whether or not you get value from being a member at your course.

So based on your annual membership fee and the number of times you play golf is your membership financially worthwhile.

This is purely financial. I really don't care how warm and fuzzy playing golf with mates or in a comp makes you feel or how you can't put a price on enjoyment or getting away from HID . Thats why its is a simple Yes or No poll.

So effectively the formula to use is:

Cost of your annual membership divided by the number of rounds you actually play at your home course in a year. Is the product less than the 'rock up and play' fee if not signed in by a member?

So for me it was £680/10=£68 for last year. Rock up and play price is £40 so No for me.

Deffo worth it, just wish the course was a bit nearer so I could nip up and practice a bit more.

As per my comments in the previous thread, its a no from me. Probably at around 100 quid a round at the minute.

I must add a caveat though, none of those rounds i have played, would have been possible as a non member, as we do note take visitors on weekends!

My membership is £1150 and a conservative guess of how many rounds I'l play would probably be 150, works out at less than £8 per round, so definitely good value.

On count back for this year to date, it works out at £19/Round as opposed to just turning up and paying £30, so yes and I'll be having a few more rounds before the year is out so it's only going to get cheaper.

£600 a year for me rounds played ,minimum of two a week so well worth the fee. having said that i wont be playing much more if at all this year as i am on the injured list..i will get money back though for being insured .

Similar to many, £1150 for an average of 3 games per week. Only downside is all the extra costs of match fees, bar bills etc etc

big YES. my annual subscription is somewhere around the 1000 GBP mark (1400 EUR) for a projected 65 rounds this year

Yes, definitely. £650 per year subscription, or £15 green fee. I expect to play around 40-50 competitive rounds, and 70-80 practice rounds before or after work, so I estimate this at £4-5 per round.

My retired neighbour plays 6 days per week, often having a round in the morning and afternoon, so he'd total up around a whopping 300 times a year! That works out around £2.60 to play a course that visitors would have to pay £40 for!

It would be interesting to know why people who aren't getting economy are still members? I imagine a big thing would be the luxury of being able to just walk on and play, or to keep playing in competitions.

Yes, membership is £1,300 (inc locker) and I play well over 100 rounds there per year and with a weekend twilight fee of £25 I'm miles ahead, seeing as during the summer I can play upto 5 rounds a week!

Easily worth it. Subs are £1,000, I play around 80 full rounds, and I also go up for nine or six holes two or three times a week. Just counting the full rounds, it works out at £12.50 compared with a green fee of £45.

similar to me on sheer value for money means rounds are expensive but not possible as a non member so I take the hit and stump up the cash
