Just played my worst round of golf ever, completely fell too pieces after the second hole, started with an 8 then a 10, my games came on leaps and bounds over the winter and I'm now hitting low 90s, but tonight I was way over 120. I couldn't hit anything unless it was a tree.

Feel really low as I've got a company comp on Friday and I'm bricking it.

How do you guys recover after a bad start?

I seem to play well on my own but get really nervous playing with my mates.

The old saying things can only get better will help for one ha.

On a serious note though I know how you feel when things are going better and then all of a suddern you are back scratching your head... I have been ill with the flu lately and been out twice this week. First time was the day after I could actually get out of bed again. (prob shouldn't have played but it was a viewing round for my new club and wanted to walk the course atleast) second was today and I am probably about 95% better but felt like I was lucky even to hit the ball...

The biggest thing for me is I put so much pressure on myself and I just think you should relax stand over the ball and make sure you take 15% off... you will make better connections and hopefully your confidence will improve from this.

Good luck for friday and I would just get there early to make sure you get loose and have a lil practise

Know exactly how you feel as I did the same at the weekend! Played mediocre on Saturday but felt it was just the day wasn't for me and still up beat. Played again on Sunday and it was like I've never picked a club up before! Driver, hybrid and irons were nowhere! Wedges were ok and putter was ice cold!

This week I've just gone back to basics and just sat in the garden trying to get the feeling back. Nothing else to do but write it off, practice and get back on the horse again.

Hope all goes well with your round and at least you will go into it with no expectations.

Have had rounds where ice used my handicap allowance plus a few more by the turn and then played the back in just a few over. If you have a bad start try to put it out of you mind. Great tip from the Karl Morris app I'm listening to is to break the round into 6 x 3 segments and try and make the best score you can on that stretch and ignore what has gone before and what is to come

Cheers guys I'm not the most confident person, which really gets my game in a mess sometimes I seem to lose focus after about 12 holes, but if I concentrate I can get over it. Someone always said to me that for me it has to be perfect or not at all, I've only been playing for a year so maybe I should take his advice. Lol.
