Someone who shall remain nameless (:D) shot 175 (gross) 149 (net) in a medal at my club today. Has anyone ever seen a score worse than this at their club?!

Never seen a score like that ever - I pity his playing partners and everyone who had to follow that group around - must have been torture.

I would have got him to NR early as averaging almost 10 shots per hole helps no one. Play a stableford for scoring purposes on card and NR once exceeded scoring - help everyone.

Must have been Hell on toast playing with him.
Averaging nearly 10 per hole! Must have taken weeks to get round.
Once you've shot 80+ for the front 9 you need to be NRing when you reach treble bogey...Unless it was one or two truly horrific holes...

Lots of conclusions being jumped to here. Do we know how fit the person was? Are they coming back from serious injury/illness, have they been recently disabled? Could be lots of reasons for a score like that other than just being pants

When another thread pops up on here about how golf is failing to attract new people to the sport....Might be best to signpost them to most of the replies on here.

It's certainly what put me off playing for a long time. I remember my first comp well, I shot 128, got round in under 3 and half hours and never held the course or my fellow PP's up once.

We all have to start somewhere, we weren't all naturals at the game.

Exactly that, he is not helping his PP or himself. To be honest, am Suprised that no one has said owt at the club. Feel sorry for the guy/woman but there are others playing.
