Going to Worsley Park (Marriott) in April for a couple of days with a group (12) from our club.

I know nothing about it and it doesn't seem to get mentioned much, any views, opinions, advice.

What's it on a par with?

Hopefully you won't be there at the end of a wet spell. They've done a huge amount of work on improving the drainage. It used to be a bog at the first drop of rain but it was improving. Not played it for about 6 years.

Good layout and good greens.

I am playing it on Monday, its not a bad course, apart from the stupid walk to and from the 2 holes stuck on their own, 11th & 12th if I remember correctly.

Good resort course. Can play quite long if I remember and the greens were in good condition.
I actually love Worsely GC just around the corner! Great track and members club...

By the Way Robin, if you have any spare time my club is literary across the road from WP and you are welcome to a game there if I am free.

Worsley GC is one of my favourites. Was very tempted to join there when at Flixton.

Thanks everyone.

Thanks Lou, unfortunately I doubt I'll have any time, driving up Sat 8th playing from lunchtime then dinner/bb and play Sunday 9th morning.

Let me know how it is after your round on Monday 👍🏌️⛳

I like Worsley Park its a decent varied layout, big undulating greens and not too much of a ballbreaker. It's an enjoyable course.
Decent boozer in Worsley Old Hall within the hotel grounds too.

Interest comments about Worsley GC, I have played it a few times and despite having my only sub 80 comp round there, I find it a bit boring apart form a couple of holes on the back nine it is pretty unmemorable.

Robin, dont take driver on 17, you can run out of fairway at the dog leg.

From memory, hit something that goes about 220 and you'll be fine. A baby fade, would be even better.;)

Not a bad course, Worsley park, will keep you interested over 2 days.

Nice course, scoreable and usually in good condition. Has a few really nice holes, i really like the par 3 over water and the last par 3 on the back nine, 14th i think. 2 good finishing holes also. 17th is drivable with a fair wind and firm bounce and 2 good digs will see you on or near the par 5 18th.

The "John Gilbert" is within walking distance and good for a few beers as the bar prices in the hotel are as eyewatering as you would expect.

17th is driveable? - Are we talking the same Worsleys here. I'm talking about the Marriott one.

Thanks everyone.

Be interested in hearing your views of the overall stay and play experience there. Our club have just organised a similar one there in September but for a Sunday/Monday stay.

It'd be a good place for a future Forum Meet given that the course is decent and the Pubs Close by etc, Theres a Great beer garden/huge lawn outside the Worsley Old Hall. Perfect for several post round summer evening Beers.
Maybe look into it for something in the future.
