I get a lot of people saying I need to work on my short game. Therefore I have been to the chipping area a lot recently, but often find myself bored after 20mins, hitting balls to different targets.

Is there any short game drills out there that make short game practice both fun and productive.

Thanks

its 20mins every time you can that helps the most!

No need of drills.... Just get a half dozen balls that you always play with and stick them into every lie that you think you will come across on the course..... Use every iron in the bag to see the results and aim to get the ball past the hole.... Dont be happy unless you get them all withing 4-6 ft from various lies.... The easier the lie the closer you need to get it and dont just automatically pull a wedge..... You'll be surprised at what you can do with a 7 iron around a green.....

get someone to practice with. 3 balls each. pick a different spot every time after each 3 goes. loser collects. winner chooses the next spot. simple yet fun. :p

This is good also.... I play with my 5 yr old son for Maynards Wine Gums.... Brilliant craic....

Agree with that. I've only recently discovered how workable an 8-iron is from a fluffy lie just off the green, plus you never blade an 8-iron over the back like you do a 58deg that you're trying to flop.

When i practice with a friend, we play a game where the closest shot to the hole wins the other players ball, always a good fun.

When chipping or pitching into a practice green with holes, take your putter and try to hole the shots as well. After all, that is the end target.

Someone on here posted a practice game where you place 5 balls at various points just off the green then try and get them all down in 10 shots.
Not sure who posted it and even if I've described it correctly but that's what I've started doing and it's great fun.
I place maybe 5 balls just off the green getting further away by a yard, start at the shortest and work out. I then putt them down and aim for 10 shots, not done it yet mind :fore:

They are mate, Wearside practice area is nice but this one is a cut above. There's even what seems to be a full size par 4 hole but I haven't tried it yet.

Wearsides would be nice if the charvs and the numb skulls didn't get on

Main reason I'm joining Chester next year for practice ground
The practice field up Chester is actually three holes that they use to use before holes 4-9 opened
