Wooody Austin - Gutless!

Does any one else think that Woody Austin’s decision not to play in the Open because he "doesn't know how to play that type of golf" is completely gutless?

If he was a golfer with drive and ambition he would surely relish the opportunity to test his game on one of the finest links courses in the world. He is obviously quite happy to stay a journeyman on the US Tour while he counts his money without ever taking a risk or challenging himself. There are enough recent examples of American's who have performed well at the Open with very little links experience to suggest that his excuse is absolute rubbish.

To be fair he would have had to travel for 6 hours in business class and then would have had to stay in a 5 star hotel for a week and play one of the best tests of golf in the world - poor Woody!!

Woody Austin is just one in a long line of yanks who think they are bigger than the Open. They want ALL the majors to be held 'STATESIDE'. If you polled all their pro's they would probably vote for the Players Champinship to replace our .... sorry ... THE Open.
