So, its 4pm, and we met for our usual late afternoon knock, and whats that,........a member of the greenstaff still on a cutting machine cutting rough ....@ 4pm ????
1st Green........hang on........the fringe is looking very well defined, and that green looks superb.........oooer.
Cue some shoddy area's of turf taken up and readying to be replaced ,and we seem to have some action around here......
Our new Greenkeeper has this week started at the Club, and as one of only 20 Master Greenkeepers in the UK apparently, it looks like he means business.
Apparently, he's already identified that the fairways were being cut too fast, leaving areas shaved with others too long, and also apparently remotivated the green's staff to join the ride with him in making Brough Golf Club as prestigious as it should be again.
Time may be against him with winter on its way, but we all have huge hopes for next summer, and the years to come.
A welcome wind of change me thinks.
