Played in the Monthly Stableford this morning, hit the ball like God.
Best I've played in yonks.
41 points (18 out, 23 in) no blobs and had 5x3 putts! I hit almost every green in regulation, mullered the ball off the tee (love my new Covert 2.0) and my iron play, although I say it myself, was outstanding. The Taylor Mades are going well.....
Our long par 4 11th was reduced to a drive and a 9 iron for birdie!!
As it was my 3rd "qualifying" card, I should be in for a nice healthy cut.
At least back down to 12, maybe 11!!
Results go up tomorrow, I'll let you know.

Dodgy handicap

Minimum cut of 1.2 by my reckoning so 11.5.

Good shooting mate

Even a blind squirrel finds a nut eventually................................................................... very well played sir.

Thrilled for you mate!, I thought the 39pt round you had at Gainsborough was pretty decent... who knew you had a better round in you!!!

Time to hang up the bats I reckon

Where the heck did that come from?

Dunno Murph, although it was "threatening" at Blackmoor the other week as I was hitting the ball well despite not scoring brilliantly on the back 9.
Started well by parring 1 and 2 for 6 points, but then my little run of 3 putting started. Only picked up another 8 points from the next 5 holes, so it was beginning to look like "just another round" but then a birdie at 9 helped the scorecard with 4 points.
Started the back 9 with par, birdie, par, (sorry if this is sounding boring), so I had picked up 14 points off the last 4 holes!
I knew I was turning this into a bloody good round, and with the two guys I was playing with encouraging me, I was determined to just keep my head down and play steady golf.
Dropped a shot at my favourite hole (dog leg 13th) which was a bit annoying, but pars at 14, 15 and 16 steadied the ship.
17 and 18 were playing long into the wind and I dropped a further shot on each of them. I made a bit of a mess of 18 after hitting a solid drive, and rode my luck a bit, but escaped with the 2 point bogie.
As I say, the two guys I was playing, (Ken & Ron) with were great company. A couple of older guys, long standing members....I had played with them a few weeks ago in a bounce game and they had invited me to play with them again. I only scored 26 points that day, but they had both said there was a better game in me at the time, and they were both as pleased as punch that they had witnessed it.
Ron (who is 80) said in the bar afterwards that he had been cheesed off with his game lately and was thinking of packing it in, but he himself scored well on the back 9 and said that it was due to me because he was buoyed up playing with somebody else who was hitting the ball so well. That made me feel good.
Looking forward to later on today when the results go up to see what it has done to my handicap.
Thanks for the good wishes all.
Rob

.....what happened to the biocell

.....what happened to the biocell

It will be going up for sale mate. Didn't really get on with it.
Covert 2.0 is giving me much better ball flight and distance.
Have now got the matching 3 & 5 woods and really pleased with them.
During my "journey" I picked up a few clubs to try out, before arriving at the bag I'm happy with.
BioCell driver, Adams tight lies 3 wood and an Adams New Idea hybrid that will never (ever) be seeing the light of day again (well not in my bag it won't).
I bought the TaylorMade 4 iron to match up with my RS1 irons and am hitting that better than I could hit any hybrid.
