What a great weekend!

Home course finally open and back to playing some regular golf.

Played Saturday in the first medal of the year in a bitterly cold wind, managed to shoot an 89 which I was reasonably pleased with.

Stableford comp this morning on frozen greens and after a pretty mediocre start; par, bogey, double, double gradually managed to get the swing going and clawed my way back into the round, 21 points on the front 9 and then it really came together.

Carded a 1 over par 37 for 27 points on the back nine and my first ever 80 :) and a total of 48 points!

Grabbed a quick sandwich and out again for a social round, again started badly but got it back together, highlight being a pin high drive on the 10th then holing the 7 iron from about 20ft for an eagle! :) finished with an 88 total, just 2 bad holes wrecking the card. :o

Still buzzing now! :D

played yesterday for the 1st time for 7 weeks :D

scored 22 points in Winter League comp. :( (yes it was 18 holes)

Went up today to put it all right again :D

How do you shank 40 yard chips but put your drive in the middle of the fairway :D

Well done Phil, are these scores handicap counting? if so about time as i remember how well you hit the ball at Spey Valley in those terrible conditions.

I can answer half of that for you, buy will have to pass on hitting fairways.

Well played that man. Must be all the more pleasing after so little golf of late. :)

So what will you get cut to?

Just make sure you do it in the next Medal.

Golfmmad.

Course is non qualifying at the moment :( and the annual review was last night - I didn't get a cut.

Going to have a word with them this week.

Good scoring Phil. I didn't think you'd be stuck in the 20's for long after we played.

Do you have a target for your h/c this year?

I'm reluctant to set any specific targets as such, I tried that last year and then felt disappointed when the anticipated cuts didn't happen.

Been working on a few swing changes with my pro and hitting between 600 - 1000 balls a week at the range to try to get them grooved.

So if the handicap doesn't get moving in the right direction it wont be down to lack of effort!

Wow a 20 hcp and shooting those scores? Im off 15 and I shoot low 90s week in week out but only go as low as mid 80s on a good day.

48 points = 12 under hdcp right?
