Woods wins player of the year 2013 - YOUR THOUGHTS

Tiger woods has won 2013 POY. Personally I think he deserves it with 5 wins even though one wasn't a major and the wins were on courses he favours. If Adam Scott had won another event I would've picked him.

What's your view?

16 events played, 5 wins = a simply outrageous win % of 31%!

Undoubtedly player of the year, if it was anyone else but Tiger it would be a no brainer. Because of his quality people perhaps feel he didn't reach his expectations this year (i.e. a major) but 5 wins is a phenomenal career (let alone year!) for a professional golfer.

I think the decision would have been CLOSE and Tiger just pipped it... I don't think he was head and shoulders above any one else, several others must have literally just missed out by a sniff. I don't think it's a controversial decision whatsoever.

I remember a similar thread a few weeks back with potential winners being banded about.

No doubt Tiger is a deserving winner with his win record this season.

Although I stand by my views on the previous thread and would have given it to Jordan Speith :D

I don't think anyone could argue that he doesn't deserve it, 5 wins including 2 WGCs is a great season.

As for winning on courses he favours, does no-one else have courses they favour?

I think Tiger deserves it. As others have said, Tiger tends to be judged on different standards than most others. I am a Tiger fan and I was left with a feeling of 'not quite' for his year and it speaks volumes that, inspite of that, he is still POTY.

The greatest golfer of this era.
5 wins should be standard.
No majors,a crap Ryder cup,has he really done it when it matters?
Stenson for me.

Its not who has outperformed the expectations others have of them but who has played the best golf. Woods won more tournaments including 2 WGCS than anyone else - no brainer for me

Agreed.

Personally, I'd have been tempted to give it to Stenson or Spieth but giving it to Tiger can't really be questioned. He won 5 tournaments, for goodness sake.

3 more wins than the next man, 2.1m dollars more than the next man (excluding FedEx bonus), and played fewer tournaments than most others. I think it seems fair. Also, he one of the few who made cuts in all 4 of the majors, and had 2 top 10's included in those.

I would have Tiger as POTY, Stenson as comeback POTY and Speith as Rookie of the year.

Couldn't argue with that IMO
