What is happening with the Wood burning stove? I hear there is a ban coming. Surely a Tory govt wont do that to its loyal fan base.

We were to get one couple of years ago, but things did not work out. Now relooking at putting a stove in as the lounge gets too cold & draughty in the winter

They will be going on the hit list at some point so if you want one I'd do it sooner rather than later. They won't force their removal but they may prevent new installations.

When the pit was shutting I was having a wood burning stove put in the front room. One day i told a pal of me plans. He said “ put a multi fuel stove in”. I asked him why? He said “ coz your entitled to free coal you plank”. I forgot I was. So now I get free coal every year For life. I just pay to get it bagged. Saves me a fortune in heating and heats the house up lovely. It will probably be in til the middle Of May at the latest. It’s fantastic, should coal etc be banned al save as much as possible In the run up to the ban.

Ban on buying loose coal from 2023, whether that affects your arrangement not so sure

Not sure they can ban these outright without funding for replacements. I live in a rural village with no gas. Quite a few houses still heated solely by wood burning stoves and back boilers.

Presumably they will want them converting eventually. Same as gas boilers will become obsolete so will anything that is burned in the house. I think the proposal, mood music, call it what you will, at the moment is just for new burners, not existing ones, so who knows the timescale. Saying that, if it is 10 years until fossil fuel cars are no longer sold new then burning coal and wood can't be that far behind

To be fair, plenty of people in our community are happy with wood burning stoves as their primary heating source. Unless there is a significant subsidy to change then most would stay as they are.

Bioethanol burners are the future. Flueless too so can retrofit in any room extremely easily.

I have seen these being used on fancy patio dinner tables... flueless indoors worry me.... you are burning something.. it needs to be ventilated,.

I think the govt will find exactly the same response when they want people to go to the new style of air vent boilers as well.

i would like to look at Air heat exchager or ground heat exchanger or solar... but the costs of 7k -20k is prohibitive.. the min break even time is atleast 7-10 years

Am not fully sure what’s what, but in the past, the government have given sums off brass to buy back the contracts. We live in a changing world and it will be what it will be ?

Just had a perusal on the loose coal scenario. The " coal" I get is smokless eggs. Hopefully that may be excluded.

My daughter has recently put in Air Source heating 7-8K with 5 radiators and she lives in a large 4 bed house, I know of plenty of people in my area that have put this in, my golfing pal has switched from storage heaters to Air Source and he has a 4 bed house with just 2 radiators, similar price.

We've got a multi fuel burner in. We burn mostly wood. But OMG it's hard work chopping the damn stuff up. That's if you can find it! Any trees get chopped down and whoooosh the stuffs gone before it hits the ground! Nope i'm ripping ours out in two years time and installing a 100% efficient electric fire. Don't get gas!!!!!! We HAVE NO GAS !!!!!!

My BIL has one in his new build. They have the compressor in the garden. It spits out a jet blast of cold air into the garden. So earlier this week, they had to put some fence panels around it to allow the kids in the garden
