Sorry, self indulgent, but got to tell someone...

Today was "the lads" annual visit to Wimbledon Common. And wow, don't quite know what happened.

Previous personal best for 18 holes anywhere was an 83. Came in today with a gross 74 - just 6 over par and 13 better than handicap ( 10 pars, 1 birdie and 7 bogeys). Front nine was just one over gross for 27 points. Back nine was 5 over gross for 22 points. Still can't believe it...

Jesus. Some shooting that. Irons were clearly working with some receptive greens?

Shame it wasn't a qualifier - it's usually the way but over the winter and going into next season, you'll be itching to get going again. Now you know you can do it!!!

The last few holes were bum-squeakers. Dropped three shots in the last four holes - including smashing a tee shot into the trees on 17 and having to play 3 off the tee. (But a good 3rd shot, a pitching wedge to 2 feet and a putt saw it in for 5 )

Cool. That use to be driveable back in the day, especially off the yellows along with the 5th, 9th and 15th. I doubt that would happen now

Was 30 yards short of the green with a 3 wood.

Didn't hit good tee shots on 5 or 15 but was pin high with a 3 wood on 9th. Was hitting the 3 wood beautifully and hitting it maybe 30yds longer than I was hitting my driver the day before. Best was a 265 on 6th. Just now worried that all returns to normal on Saturday??

And yes they did use names - started with an f and ended in bandit. And I don't care....
