Was playing at my local club yesterday, ( Rushmore ) in sunny Dorset when walking down to the 11 th tee we could here a loud roar for an aircraft, looking round we then saw coming over the trees at very low level, was a Vulcan Bomber, it was flying very low and very slow over the course, you could see everything.

People further down the course all started to wave, some using there towels and the Vulcan seem to cut his engines and slow down even more then tipped his wings both to the right and left, then he opened it up again and flew straight on over us, in fact right over the top of us, the noise was deafening but a truly wonderful sight.

Was told later its the only one still flying, so made it even more special to see it over my course.

Beautiful plane, I'm no aircraft lover, but that one always gets me, and Hercules.

What's Rushmore like for a round? Have a mate who wants to drag me down there in a few weeks!

You are right, it's the last one run by a charitable trust http://www.vulcantothesky.org/ have seen it a few times!

Was lucky enough to see an Lancaster flying in tandem with a spitfire today over newbury, not sure how the council etc pulled it off for the town carnival though. Epic noise!

The one time I played Woodhall Spa we saw the Lancaster flying not that far above the tops of the trees over the course. It was a magnificent sight and sound.

Not knowingly had the good fortune of seeing a Vulcan in the air... Might of been one of the vapour trails I saw as a nipper... Neighbours saw the Vulcan at last years Poole air show... They were well impressed... Wouldn't mind seeing Concorde up in the air one more time...

I had the Vulcan fly over me last year whilst I was out for a cycle.
It was arriving for the Wings & Wheels show at Dunsfold, which is where I was cycling at the time.
It circled twice before flying over us at a very low altitude
What a sight ............................. what a noise!

Last year my wife volunteered me to take some aerial photo's for someone she knows.
I don't enjoy flying but thought I'd do it as a favour for her mate ..... I mean, how hard can it be?
Then I realised we were going up in this!

It's called a Steerman ............. and the passenger sits IN THE FRONT SEAT!

Can anyone name this golf course?

It was a surreal experience as we stayed at or below 1400ft due to other air traffic.

I believe the Vulcan is scheduled to fly at the Bournemouth air show again this year. Along with the Eurofighter it is the highlight every year.

Effingham?

One used to fly very low over the top of my house on a regular basis testing hedge-hopping radar.
Trouble was I used to live on the top of bloomin great Hill.

Three of then once flew half way across America in the 1960's on a secret training mission.
They were miles over the border before anyone knew.

Course looks like Farnham.

Make the most of any sightings of the Vulcan. 2013 is the last year that it will fly. Unfortunately it would need a £multi million refurb to keep it in the air and it's being retired at the end of the show season. Such an amazing aircraft.

Not true now as they are raising funds to fly until end of 2015. :)

I saw the Vulcan at Mildenhall a few years ago, the weather had been awful, everyone was soaked, the sun came out and the Vulcan took to the air, the pilot flew low towards the crowd, then tipped the nose up to the sky and gave her full power. The noise, vibration and heat coming off the engines was amazing, a real experience:)

Spot on!
The hole going from left to right at the bottom of the photo is the 17th.

Yup - it's Farnham. The heathland part of the course is in the trees at the top of the picture. The house you can see at the bottom of the picture was for sale some years ago. The club considered buying it as a new clubhouse but decided not to - cost. A mistake - might have been difficult paying for it but it would have made a most fantastic clubhouse. Oh well - no point in looking back - would cost £1million++ to buy today

Hi
I last saw a Vulcan in 1958,as an 18 year Royal Engineer,on Christmas Island in the Pacific Ocean.
It was during the nuclear testing ,a very exciting posting!!!
As I recall ,may be wrong ,it was the Victor that dropped the bombs for the tests we saw during' Operation Grapple'.
Cannot believe I am that old!!!!

Yeh, it's lovely seeing those old WAR MACHINES and BRINGERS OF DEATH flying overhead :p

Let's spend another £126,000 on it...... or we could help some homeless people
