Has Now Found His Wedgie
Playing in my first winter league competition this year, lost the first two games (played last week me against 2 as partner injured) so no chance of going through. Had to start this week me vs 2 again, partner came in for the back 9 as doc said he could only play 9 holes.
Anyways, -3 degrees Saturday morning, frozen course and on temp greens, playing the best team in our league currently undefeated. I'm 2 down after 4, keep it that way to 6, when, after scambling out of the trees after a wicked deflection of the concrete fairway, I miraculously chip in from 100 yds for a birdie, net eagle on the 7th par 5
Actually it was more a hit and run with my 7 iron and would have run miles past if it hadn't hit the flag and dropped in
. Halve the next, and then chip in for a par net 2 on the 9th bringing it back level going out.
Partner meets us at the halfway house and we manage to work our way back to 2up after 16, dormie teeing off at 17. I hit three trees ping ponging back and forth to wind up in the brambles about 20 yds of the tee tried to hack it out but failed miserably and ended up picking up. Partner gets a lucky bounce and winds up about 15yds through the green for two, then promptly "putts" it backwards rather hard, again going miles past when it hits the pin and drops
To say I'm ecstatic is an understatement, although I do realize that the conditions were an absolute lottery. The game bears no reflection on the quality of golf as the balls were going all over the shop, but a wins a win
roll on next week........
