After 4 years at my current club and twenty odd years at my previous club, I have at last won a board competition. 5-day Matchplay Singles. Made up for being knocked out in the first round of all the rest of the Matchplay knockout competitions this year. I beat the defending champion 3&1 after being 2 down at the turn, and putted like a god for once. Two of my previous rounds in this comp went to extra holes and my nerves are getting a bit shot!
:whoo:

Congratulations! That's a very nice competition to win too.

I've won two board competitions this year, both stableford. I'd much rather have won a matchplay comp, all in good time....

Not that I am aware of, although I did have a bit of a discussion with my opponent about the correct dropping point after I put my ball into a lateral water hazard.
:)

So this didn't involve you galloping down the fairway unecessarily?

I'm disappointed :(

What was the discussion? Surely one of the easier rules?

It was about the exact point of entry into a lateral hazard that is partly hidden from the tee. I felt that I could drop back down the line on the fairway, whereas he wanted me to drop the ball into very deep rough. :)

Matchplay is always a game that's puts a weak putting stroke under pressure and normally reveals cracks, if you brought it home against the current champ then well done sir!

I wanted the singles champs this year but melted in the semi's, still gutted about it now!

strangely I find it the absolute opposite. the objective with each putt is normally crystal clear and performance improves no end - this is even more so with chipping. I've the singles on Monday (defending) with the doubles already defended :)

well done DC - now defend it next year :)

Well done , monkey off your back , took me awhile to win mine , now i have won so many but its still a thrill to add to the list

Sounds like a bandit to keep winning year after year ;)
