Woburn - marquis course

Most forgiving of the 3 courses but still one you need to be accurate on to leave yourself angles into greens.

Greens are fast and true and the whole course smacks of quality.

You'll love it!

It's an American style parkland course - big wide open fairways surrounded by big tall trees and big greens with lots of undulations . It's prob the most spectacular of the three courses.

It's the one they play the big tournaments on and has some spectacular holes.

I'd probably grow to like it best if I played it often. But, to me, it hasn't got the consistent style of Duchess (though the 'bit of everything has its pluses!), nor the great Par 3s of the Dukes!

Get there early and take advantage of the fantastic practice/warm-up facilities!

It's a lovely course, been fortunate to play it 6/7 times. Take it all in, take some pics too. The whole set up and feel of the place is great IMO.

I love that course. Better for my game than the Duchess (as it's a bit wider), although the latter if the nicest of the three.
Can't remember which hole it is (5th or 7th), but you have a choice of left or right sides of a large cluster of trees. If you hit more than 200 yards down the right, you may end up in trouble. Left is longer but safer, as it's fairway the whole way.
Enjoy yourself; I know you will!

That never really bothered you though Simon, did it????;)

As others have said, the Marquess is a superb course.
I have been lucky enough to play all three courses at Woburn, and the Marquess is my personal favourite.
The Dukes and Duchess are nice, I'd be happy to play either of them, but if I were playing 36 at Woburn I'd be a bit miffed if the Marquess wasn't on the itinerary for one of the rounds.

I have played all three quite a few times, and really don't rate the marquess at all! I'd rather play the duchess, or the Dukes.

The guy I have lessons from thinks exactly the same, after we played there earlier this year, so it's not just me!

Still, if you haven't played it, it'll be nice enough.

It doesn't drain that well though, which could be an issue after all this rain.

It's my fav of the three courses, although it's close run with the Dukes. The British Masters is due to be played on it in a couple of weeks, it should be in top condition.....

The Marquess is very much a marmite course - it's popular but for me whilst it is spectacular it just doesn't have the same feel as the other two.

thanks everyone - sounds like its a bit "mixed", but have to say I cant wait. A day at "work" playing golf, followed by lunch is a real treat (and I'm playing well at the moment as well, so fingers crossed!)
Then I'm down to Twickenham for the Wales vs England game on full hospitality!
