Does Golf need Rory to win tomorrow and say the masters and one other major next year?

Or

Does golf need that one person as a figurehead? Or does it need more days like today when for most of the day we had 10 players within one shot of the lead?

Days like today - that way the game doesnt become all about just one player. Sport needs a rivalry - its needs to see people battling away against each other.

Golf needs excitement and close competition. like today:thup:

Remember when F1 was a car park procession?...ZZZZZzzzzzzzzz (still is a bit but you get my drift)

the best winner in this context i expect would be rickie fowler, been an excellent major so far lets hope we get a fun back 9 rather than a "rory stroll" though. Come on Bernd :)

Last night was what non-tiger golf needed. I would say the top 9 are all in with a shot of winning, someone on -8 could have a storming round. i really thought someone would have a real low one, Danny Willet had a 66 Bernd and Mahan with their 65's. Jason day taing his shoes and socks off, crossing a creek and getting probably the best par of his career.

It had it all, from all nations too to keep everyone excited, 3 americans there, loads of europeans, an aussie and a saffer! just needed Matsuyama or Oda to be up there to keep the Asian golf market excited.

But for the ugly sister of the 4 Majors, i think its been the most exciting.

I still think Rory will win, but its not going to be easy.

PS> I got Louis Ooost yesterday morning at 66/1 go louis!!!!

C'mon Ricky, the real peoples champion.

I see Butch has changed his swing and look at him now- Butch for President! Tiger, you listening!

It troubles me that the media have now deemed Rory as Tiger 2, in that he's now the one who could challenge Jack, break all records, etc.

FFS, just let them play golf, not exalt thm on to pedestals as Gods before they're old enough and/or capable of coping with it.

This is one of the most enjoyable majors in years, because there are so many who could win it. May the best golfer on the day win!
