was having a good game but in trying ro wallop my second round the small tree 4 foot in front of me on 11, the ball rebounded straight into my right eye, smashing my glasses. I was immediately writhing around the floor in agony and blood - ambulance to Royal Berks and they operated to save the front of the eye - 2 big tram line lacerations across the eye. still badly swolen up and no vision - my lense is missing somewhere in the eye - waiting for the swelling to ease so they can see the full extent of the damage inthe back and work out what can be done! Trying to stay optimistic but damage is severe. Will let you know how i get on. :(

All the very best mate.

That sounds hideous, Paul. Best wishes for a successful recovery.

The eye docs at the RBH are pretty good and I am sure they will sort it out for you. A lens can be replaced with a bionic one, well, OK, a plastic one (as many oldies with cataracts get), and corneal damage should heal with prompt intervention as you had. So you may have been a bit lucky after having been very unlucky.

What is your twitter name?

Really sorry to hear that Paul - hope it's not as bad when the swelling goes down

Sorry to hear that matey. Are you still in the RBH or did they send you home pending the swelling going down. I hope the team here at the hospital can get you sorted. As Ethan said they are a good bunch (no I didn't recruit them!). Hope the longer term future works out for you. Get well soon
