Anyone played this wee gem?
Tried to get a time at our own course for the weekend with no joy (another story :( ) so we decided to use greenfree vouchers and try this track out.

8 par 3's ranging from 125yrds to 240yrds but with a hefty easterly gale blowing any of them were a real test of shot-making.Greens as good as any I've played and all for the princely sum of £9.50! If anyone from the nearby area has not sampled this course I can think of worse ways to spend 3 hours.4900 yards par 65 but plays anything but that short.

Watch out for the 'The Point' hole 14 180-odd yards par three. All of the group agreed it was one of if not the best par three we had played.

Played it a quite a few times as a couple of my mates are members. Always handy for a winter game. A really hard stretch around the turn to shoot par.Pretty sure Tommo21 is a member down there

As well as Royal Musselburgh, Winterfield GC is one of my tracks. 250, 235, 212 and 234 yard par threes are the easier ones. The 238, 197 and the 202 yard holes are the tough ones.

The one Adi talks about is 202 from the medal, over the beach to a sloping green with the beach all around the green. John Huggan, the sports writer, reckons it’s one of the best holes he’s ever played.

Winterfield is aptly named. When the wind blows it gets it hard, sticking out from the mainland with no shelter. The views are top class.

John Huggan is a wise man :D and the wind was indeed blowing yesterday!

Royal Musselburgh is my home track too mate, but I'll not be renewing.I've become increasingly pissed off with the difficulty in getting a time at the weekend. It came to ahead this weekend with the open day.I kinda expect to be able to book a time 4 days in advance for a time in the middle of October.I doubt I'll be playing there again, neither will the 3 guys I play with.

Anyway, I rate Winterfield higher than RM, especially the greens which i thought were as good as Archerfields. The pro mentioned they are doing a winter membership for £97...terrific value for money, just a wee bit too far from Porty to justify.

It's certainly got a challenging opening hole.

And as folks have said, the par three out to the point is something else :D
