Ok, had a great summers golf, and finally achieved my dream of reaching Single figures, before slipping back to 9.5. ie 10 at season end.

So, Not being one for 'getting out whatever the weather' and playing 'every Sat am', I'm determined to at least keep the clubs swinging over the winter months, in some shape or form, and hopefully start the season in
Mar/April straight out of the blocks.

BUT, even though I only live half a mile from the practise ground, finding the time during the week on the rare occasions that it isnt raining/windy/cold or miserable is quite a task, so how & when do you all keep things loose and working from now till spring ?

Driving Range in the evenings ?

fortunately i live very close 2 my clubs range and i get down there twice a week if poss in between rain showers, wind doesnt bother me as i look at it as a challenge,as you stated keeping your eye in and loose is vital,so many players dont practice and then wonder why they struggle.congrats on gettin 2 single figures even thou u r now a 10.im a 12.2 at the moment and my target is single figures and the only way 2 get there is practicing on our week points,so if that means wind and rain so be it.

found it hard to get out to the range and put a few hours in, but have just had a few lessons at the range so it has seem to get me going again, also a freind at work goes so he is getting me out as well, out now twice a week and a lesson every two weeks, and once over the weekend if not out on the course

I try to go to the range at least once a week all year round, though i am lucky in that the nearest Driving Range is 2 mins drive away - fair bit nearer than my course.

What i also do is make sure i have a few lessons this time of year to make sure things in general are OK (nothing i can do about the human factor mind!!). I find a DR is the best place to practice and work on what i've been taught as genrally any lessons will be swing based rather than bunker play or short game specific.

Seems a shame to put a lot of good work in to get to your target and not being able to continue that.

Look on the brightside, with a DR it's costs a bit of money but you don't have to fecth the balls after!

I tend to go to the range at weekends unless there is a club competition on. Sadly the grass practice ground tends to get too wet for any constructive practice. At the range I really take my time and make sure I go through my set up on each shot.

I tend to have a lesson once a month as winter is the best time to change the swing. At the moment a lot of my practice is focussed on swing tempo although I'm having a proper swing lesson on Friday to iron a few problems out.

I think as long as you are constructive in your practice and don't just belt balls or focus entirely on the full swing then the winter can be as beneficial as playing in the summer.

Hi,

I am lucky in that I stay less than 5 minutes from the driving range and just over 5 minutes from my course. Like some others I try and get to the range at least one evening a week and am aiming to get to the practice area at my course for one session practicing either wedge shots or chipping. Try to do this during my "flexible" lunch hour. Also been practising putting along a rug in our front room because it has squares on it and is good for alignment. Family think I am mad !! Weather has been stopping me going to the course and the best bit about the range is not collecting the balls !!!

I have just enough time in my lunch break to get to a range, hit a basket of balls, and get back.

By the time I get home after work and have something to eat I can't be bothered to go out in the dark to the range, so I'll probably tick over on once a week in my lunchtime, plus the odd weekend when I can get on the course.

I get on the range twice at weekends for about 3 hours then i get on the par 3 nine hole course to get my short game into shape.I will also try to get some lessons in to iron out any bad habits.
