Last club hcap qualifying competition finished today and so i'm now stuck with a 12 hcap until next march or april. I'm thinking up plans for winter now...maybe a slight swing change but I'm going to try and make it consistent. I might put the odd winter league round in as I go along. :D

Has anybody got any golfing plans for the winter?

It'll be links golf for me most weeks now. I'm also considering new irons, so winter might be a good time to get used to them before the spring.

Playing in the winter league and PRACTISING there i said it ,i say it every year but if the course is quiet i play the course instead of going to the practise strip.
Looking forward to playing other courses with the deals there giving over the winter as well.

Mainly playing - just trying to keep the swing going until Spring. Lack of time makes it tricky to get to the range so I practice on the course.

Already working on my winter swing change and to be honest after yesterdays excuse for a round it can't come quick enough. Tempo is the biggie but we may look at tweaking a few other areas if I can crack plan A. At the moment the light is a long way away and the path rocky. Still nothing like a challenge. Good luck to anybody else embarking on a major change this winter

I plan to just keep playing as normal. Last season the only days that the course was shut was during the heavy snow and after that we only had 1 weekend on temp greens.

Put the clubs away and forget about golf until March... that's my plan. ;)

Will try and do some general keep fit - running machine and weights bench but nothing golf specific.

Jealous of you coastal folk that can play links golf all winter. I don't envy any inlanders playing in the winter. :p

Hope to be having a fitting for new irons next week and will then be hitting the practice ground hard to get in the groove with them.
After Xmas I am planning a course of lessons with the pro to iron out one or two problems I have and to work on my short game consistency in preparation for the new season.
I am going to have to nuckle down and put in the practice as my aim for next year is to get down to single figures.

Gonna struggle tbh.

The nights are darker earlier now thanks to turning the bloody clocks back!
No golf on the course during the week due to work, which leaves weekends only or thwacking balls down the range.

A bit depressing really. I'm not a big fan of winter!

I plan to learn golf. i have a course of lessons booked for the start of november and i plan to practice as much as possible over the winter and decide which club to join so i can come out in spring a reasonable golfer and a member of a club. And the hardest challenge i'm going to face this winter is giving up smoking!

I will carry on playing once or twice at weekends, but also continue to work on getting a consistant swing on the range during the week.

Stopping smoking and getting back on a major strength and fitness regime too, so hopefully there will be a rejuvenated me by the spring :)

My plan is to completely change my swing. The projects already started, and hopefully come spring time I'll have a much more consistent and controlled swing.

Although I will be playing golf throughout the change, I won't be bothering about the scores.

Winter league for me.
I'm hoping that my partner & I can get a little further than before.
In the last two years we've been in the last 16 & then Qtr finals. So hopefully the semi's or final would be nice this year.

Work on my swing change and keeping my grip nutural on the range. Played last weekend and the weather is poor and I just don't have the motivation to play in bad weather and soggy condictions. Explained to my fourball but don't think they understand, I just need to stick to a nutural grip and practice.

Now, that's a tough one.

We'll soon be off mats, at which point I'll come into my own and when every person complains about the mats, I'll be lapping up some good scores.

Last year, I got cut three times over the winter period.....someone (clearly off their rocker) at mine likes to look at the rubbish scores and raise the CSS and cut anyone with even 36 points.

The last 4 at mine at a total of 170 yards (85,20,55 and 20) yards shorter. Not only that, but tee shots requiring some hook can just be boshed any old way. I'll be making hay and scooping some vouchers hopefully.

It's an odd world. :) :D

Lessons for me im afraid

Proper set up and better grip are bedding in,a fraction more hip turn on the way back and keeping the club infront of my chest throughout might take some time though

Fingers crossed it can get me to cat 1 next year

Im gonna join East Sussex National academy, Jan-Mar, 2 lessons , unlimited balls, 3hole course, using of short game area, reduced green fees. all for £94. Did this in 2007 and really helped with a major swing change!
