For me it comes down to drinking cold beer in the morning.

If you came up to me at 0900 in the morning on a cold December day with a cold beer I would think you were mental (I would probably still drink it).

However if you came up to me at 0900 in the morning in the Summer with a cold beer I would think you where a legend (I would definitely drink it).

And that for me is the difference.

I have just written a blog on this and will post it on www.thesecretgolfer.com later tonight.

I teed off at 7 o'clock this morning. There wasn't a cloud in the sky or another player on the course. All was quiet, the fairways lined with a fine dew. There was a slight chill in the air but the sun soon provided plenty of warmth, rays flickering through the branches and creating such glorious colours. The greens were almost impeccable and there was a chance of seeing some wildlife loitering around before heading off into the undergrowth away from humans until near dusk tonight. I played fairly rubbish but it was still magnificent.

Summer golf every time.

This just makes me want to go and play right now

You and me both. Course magnificent, my game significantly less so bar the putting. Still a pleasure to be out there

Each to their own - summers evening works better for me; rather be fishing at first light!

Ah, well, yes, when I was younger and a fishing nut I used to love early mornings. Come to think of it, I just love early summer mornings, running is great at that time of day too. The best run I have ever done was down the long walk to Windsor Castle at 630am on Sunday morning in July.

Some of the best weather I played in on the last 12 months was between October and March. Links so most courses were still running well but carry distances down. This years summer is looking much better though and I'm looking forward to it.
