does anyone have a recommendation for a good winter golf ball, i have been using a titleist pro v1x but with the greens so soft i think i could use a cheap option, the pro v1x seem to chew up. I tried dt solo buy hate the feel of then so looking for an in between any views:confused:

Ive just bought 15 Wilson Ultra distance balls from sports direct for £8, don't know what theyre like but I can handle losing them at that price.

I play the Pro V1 in the summer, so decided to give the Pro V1x a bash over the winter months as, apparently it's a little firmer.

What a load of proverbial.

Fellt a little firmer, but not much, went as far, control was just as good, and played under my handicap.

In all honestly, I actually prefer the the Pro V1x to the Pro V. Problem is I have 6 dozen, Pro V1's, new in the box to get through first

Pro V1x seems to have been getting closer and closer to what the original Pro V1 was designed for.

While there are several Srixon and Nike flavours, including 'soft' ones, used for Practice at tournaments, only the Pro V1x is used in the Titleist range.

NXT Tour (and the 'S' version) seems to be a pretty good ball - the S suits me in Summer too.

I don't think so - I also play the same ball. Not sure why people would change anyway.

Personally change because a premium ball spins way too much on soft greens, makes it very difficult to hit full short irons so prefer one that spins less. Once the greens get even wetter and balls are just plugging seems little benefit in hitting a premium ball anyway so use a cheaper variant

I've always played through with the same ball, but I'm just about to run out of my favourite and can't find them anywhere at a sensible price so thinking of changing for this winter.

Not made up my mind yet so will watch this with interest.

Callaway hex hot pro is my ball for winter. 3 for 2 at cgdiscountgolf.co.uk too, so less than £40 for 36 balls.

I play a Urethane Ball during the season, mainly because of the control from 100 yards and in. I've recently bought some cheaper options as you don't see the benefits of a tour ball as much on wet greens, but have to say that I miss the softer ball, so this will probably be the first winter where I continue to play the same ball all season!

I don't have that problem, I don't generate enough spin :D

With less competition play in the winter I switch to using any old ball for bounce games. For my winter league matches I'm using AD333's that I won recently, this will give me consistency. Then in the summer I'll use the Prov's ive got stashed away. With the leaves on the ground loosing a ball is likely, Id hate to lose a prov after a good shot!
