Played a competition off the whites today and was struck by just how long our course was playing. luckily it was a fun team event but we all remarked that we were glad we weren't slogging our way through a medal or stableford.

The current playing conditions in Siuthern England are really very tough and all I can say is roll on Summer.

I'll second that. Hit a 3 wood off the tee on a down hill hole today and the ball still came back a foot from its pitch mark.

Played today. Course wet but not too bad especially the greens for the time of year but boy how cold was it. Supposedly 6 degrees but one of those winds that blew right through you despite several layers and a hat. Comp tomorrow. Pairs event with Ads749r as my wing man. Hope he's feeling strong to carry me!

Winter golf just requires different skills. Inevitably you will be further away/hitting more club for your approach so you will hit less greens and your short game becomes more important. It is why being equally comfortable with every club in the bag is important.

What do you expect in winter?

A balmy 70 degrees... no wait...that's what I want. But living here in UK we can dream can't we?

Very true and it's my short game that hurts me so much - but I got a tip recently that I'm working on which so far is giving me cause for hope.

I played today and it hasnt rained since Thursday. Managed to ping some drives 280-310 today to my absolute amazement (granted a bit of win) Think winter is all but over.

Was just amazed to see that there was quite a bit of roll.
