Ok, there is light at the end of the tunnel, and my first Q is only 50days away, but is anyone else seriously fed up with Winter Golf now??

I am hitting balls pretty much every lunch time, putting on my artificial green in the garage twice a week and playing at the weekend but its just not enough. I need competitive golf back in my life!!

My game is in good shape so i am mega excited for the season ahead, but i am losing my mind!!

Yeah kind of. Now Christmas is well out of the way and the missus has ran out of muck for me to put up around the house i've got nothing stopping me from playing a lot of golf except the conditions and a bit of work i'm supposed to do monday to friday. Can't wait for spring to arrive and to start the comps. This is my first year back as a member of a club for 14 years so i'm revved.

Not long to go now and it usually starts to get a tad warmer towards the end of Feb.
Courses are drying out also as its hardly rained over the last 2 weeks. Shouldn't tempt it but I'm hoping the worst of the winter is out of the way.

Our first medal is 11th April, might not play that as the course or greens are still a bit crap, depends if we get some warm weather before then.

I'm not playing a lot at the moment and only had a couple of games in the last month. will start really working on my gave at the end of March.

until then im just going to enjoy playing regardless of how badly.

Probably played no more than five times on the fully opened course and a couple of times on temps so don't feel I'm ready yet. Plenty of good range work done to fall back on but need to sharpen the putting and short game. The comps start coming thick and fast from first weekend in March

Winter tees, winter greens (reality dodgy postage stamps), quagmire all round. Winter has been a huge disappointment at my course. Roll on March when we should start to change back and the course dry out.

I have only started playing again around Late November again. My last round before that was probably over 2 years ago.
Cannot tell you how much I have enjoyed it. Fortunately, its not been to wet or windy in Sunny old Doncaster over a weekend. Yes we had some snow but mainly (i even played on the 27th Dec and it had snowed) but generally its been good. I have yet to play a course with temp greens and its just been a good introduction back into the game.
The only issue is the approach shots into frozen/frosty greens. The loud thud as your ball ricochets off the hard surface. They do annoy me but its all good practice at the end of the day and my chipping is probably the strongest its ever been!

Just need a club to join now for the Medals and summer rather than going different places :)

I am desperate to get back to medals, nine holes after work and really getting to playing. Playing well at the minute with some good scores coming in, trying desperately not to peak too soon!

No frustrations at all - we all know what the courses will be like over winter so it's just outside enjoying swinging a club without worrying about qualifiers etc

Pining here for the lighter nights. Winter weather has been good so far and course is in fine shape, but soooo limiting to only be able to play at the weekend and not even get any practice in the evening. I'm counting down to three crucial dates

Sun 1st March - we come off fairway mats,
Sat 14th March - first (mixed :)) qualifier
Sun 29th March - clocks change and evening golf is a go :D

Frustrated with winter illness not so much anything else here, currently got the flu which wiped me out of a pro-am and Ive also had to pull out of weekends scratch match. We're fortunate to play almost all year round, not necessarily the best of conditions but the course tries to stay open and we play qualifiers all year

We've only closed for one weekend (snow) and had one weekend on temps (heavy frost), so not missed out on much at all.

course is on chalk so drains very well, greens are in great nick.

first qualifier of the year tomorrow

Good luck! Played in the scratch match at yours before xmas and the course was in good nick. Have they finished the new green and tees they were doing or do they not come into play until summer?

I've been playing loads of golf this winter, so no complaints here. Played one course on temporaries, and one that was ridiculously boggy (Stoneleigh, eugh), but other than that the courses I've played have been great. Also been incredibly lucky with the weather. Everytime I've planned to play it's been just about alright to play. Had a couple of showers while on the course, but nothing major. Been the best winter of golf I've had so far. Can't wait for summer though, so excited for playing 9 holes after work, and being able to stroll around the course in a t-shirt!
