Do you purposely change the ball you use in the winter and if so, When and Why.

Probably will be changing soon to something a bit harder and "yellow". Course will be softer so no need for a softer ball and to be able to see them better on frosty mornings
By harder, do you mean 2 piece?

I only change if I'm likely to lose one due to the conditions, either leaves all over the place or if the ball is going to plug in the mud never to be seen again.

When I have managed to keep a ball for a round or two during Summer i'll keep it and use it in the Winter. that said, I do have a few sleeves of Nike 20x1 (I think that's what they are called) that i'll use as well. They are supposed to be a decent ball, but they are hard and I didn't really get on with them in Summer.

Not sure the yellow balls help with the autumn leaves, because there kind of....yellow :mmm:

I think it's more the case that there's far more opportunity to lose a ball in the winter conditions so why risk a premium ball, that also, I assume, won't perform as well in winter conditions, however, for a chomper like me that doesn't play with overly expensive balls, it's business as usual with my Bridgestone B330 RX

Winter brings -
1. Softer course
2. Lower temperatures

Leaving aside the arguments re colour...This provides scope for using balls with a bit less focus on reaction control on landing (spin - cover material, multi layers etc).

With the lower temperatures a lower compression ball may well feel more enjoyable to play and, personally, I'm convinced that many of the modern soft made will fly further in lower temperatures than the hard balls referenced in an earlier post. Callaway, Srixon and Bridgestone all have Soft/Supersoft models and I am personally already using them in preference to the ProV1, B330 and ZStars in the bag. Callaway Chrome Soft remains my first choice if I have any in the bag.

Carry on using Pro V - not noticed one single difference using any other ball

Only time i would change is using a yellow z star if frosty

Generally a "premium ball user" but I tend to use more middle of the road balls in winter.....AD333, NXT etc. Why? Because we are not playing qualifiers, the benefits a premium ball gives in terms of feel, grip etc is usually negated by the conditions and I seem to pick up a fair few balls as prizes over the summer that I wouldn't actually use in summer so may as well use them.

Same as some above...don't bother changing balls for weather conditions

Seen as we are on winter rules (playing from the side) and temp greens and rubber teeing mats as soon as the weather turns due to it usually being very wet,
I tend to just use up all the half decent balls I have found over the summer, you never know you could just find the ball that suits you.

I use ProV1x during the summer, but Srixon ZStar yellow in the winter, mainly because they are easier to see against grey skies (for me anyway, dodgy eyesight), and I don't seem to lose any feel in the cold weather.
