Despite a lot of us being interesting in equipment, liking to talk about it, and having personal preferences; I have been of the opinion for a while that it is mostly about finding what is right for you. At the top pro level they have enough options and support to make sure that happens within a manufacturer and I don’t think there is much in it between them – at least not for long time spans. So on that basis the various equipment being used does not come into it for me when player a wins a tournament. Unlike say in F1 perhaps.

The player that performed the best that weeks wins.

I hope it stays that way, would not wish to see a particular manufacturer massively jump ahead and put players not with them at a big disadvantage.

The best player will win whilst using equipment that is right for them? Outrageous theory :p

When you look at the possible designs and materials that can be used in a golf club there's not really any scope for one brand to suddenly make clubs that outperform the rest.

I'm just worried that advances in tee technology will make the game too easy for everyone.

Of course I forgot about the tees! Until this was exclusively revealed on the GM forum I was unaware

Guess I was thinking, in USA & Europe it probably is a static or shrinking market, and the manufacturers are probably trying to take market share off one another - so they may be trying real hard to do exactly that. With the R&A etc doing what they can it hopefully will never happen and sport remains sport.
