I played a walk on open at Brora on Wednesday.

Played pretty well going out a couple of pars the rest bogeys, but it was at least a 4 club headwind. Thought get myself to the turn without too much damage wind behind all the way home chance to score.

Started the back 9, double, double, bogey. Handicap gone!

I seem to play fine into the wind but rubbish with it behind. Did the same thing at Nairn Dunbar a few weeks ago, pared all the holes into the wind and double bogeyed all the down wind holes!

Does any one else find this, why is I can play well on the tough holes but poorly on easier ones?

Brora was in superb nick by the way anyone heading up this neck of the woods should play there.

No, don't think its that. Think it could be its harder to control the ball if say you hit a 7 iron 150 yards normally and all of a sudden it could go 200 :D

Simples. It's just harder to stop the ball therefore less control. Playing downwind on hard turf is always more difficult Patrick as there's much more feel involved. Don't get yourself down. Just all part of the game.

Yes you are right John. On 9 Hit a great drive to 120, hit a sand wedge that I normaly hit about 50-60 yards with an easy swing. Flew everything, chipped on and 3 putted.

In the front 9 didn’t miss a fairway, despite your best only going about 200 yards, back 9 only hit the 9th.
The rest in the sh*te and not the sheep veriety :p

I feel your pain.
Played in the club champs 3 weeks ago.
In a howling gale with 220 to a lateral hazard,20 yds short of green, i hit a wind assisted 5 iron "lay up" 30 yds through back of green at par 5, deep in the [****] and doubled.
Did the same at a couple of other holes
