A friend of mine is fighting cancer. He is about 42-45yr old and not very mobile. I was speaking to his Mrs the other day and she mentioned that she has promised to take him to Windsor but hasnt had the ability/time to do it. I am going to offer to take him one day. Does anyone know if there are any charities, trusts etc for Windsor or otherwise who can help folks in such a situation and make it special..

My wife did some research along with the town Museum folk and they were wonderfully helpfull, all volunteers.
They might be a good first call. They are well connected.

We had a private viewing of St Georges Chapel which was a fantastic day

This gives lots of info.

I know Windsor well, Parking can be a problem, but the King Edward Shopping Centre is central and not far from the castle.
parking by the river involves a long walk.

Does he have a wheelchair? if not you can hire mobility scooters from here

Hope he has a great day out

This has been a public service broadcast :)

Tnx Phil... I need to check on the wheelchair scenario. He does have a walking aid but i suspect he will need a wheelchair to get around.

Tnx DfT.. will check it out. It is funny that I havent been to Windsor Castle myself even though it is about 20 mins drive. Every time I get around to Windsor, it is packed with tourist and we skip it..

An ancestor of my wife's was the architect/clerk of works for The Castle and St Georges Chapel for nearly 60 years, mainly in Queen Victoria's reign. He also started the Windsor Art Club and taught some of Victoria's children.
Fascinating place well worth visiting.
