I've just bought a new £220 Toshiba laptop that uses windows 8 .

I'm not too keen on this new format , so is it possible to change it to Windows 7 ? That I'm familiar with.

I don't use it for any games ,only various forum stuff , facebook ,email and the odd Google task.

Google Classic shell , download and install
It gives you back the full start button and all features including a program list

So if the pc starts in windows 8 land, just hit the desktop tile and you are back in familiar territory
:)

I downloaded and installed Classic shell and when i click desktop icon the start menu is back to near normal .
But when i try to close / delete a forum post as i use to by clicking the x at the top left I also tried clicking the x at right of the forum screen, both take me completely out of my email, back to the start menu.

Then i have to click the envelope box again to to get back in then i can delete the previous post.

I hate new things.

Spend a couple of hours setting up the Desktop section to be like Windows 7. Google tips, there are endless pages of I Hate Windows 8 to go through. I did that and now as soon as the computer opens I click Desktop and I am in a happy place and avoid all of the "benefits" of Windows 8.

There are whispers that when you are able to download Windows 10 'for free, Microsoft may start charging an annual fee in subsequent years.
Windows 10 will have the current start munu.

if you live it for a few more months, Microsoft has announced free upgrade to W10 later this year..
