Got a friend who uses this device and got to say it was pretty good. Mine's on my Christmas list.

Thought it might be worth placing this link to Win a Shotmiser.

For anyone who doesn't know the answer to the question, which is highly unlikely if you watched the Dunhill Champs it's ROBERT KARLSSON

Good luck, hopefully I'll win:-)Shotmiser Homepage

My problem with these things is that it doesn't really help me knowing that its exactly 156 yards to the pin because I don't have the skill to hit it 156 yards exactly. For me, I judge the distance as a 7 or an 8 and then factor in gradient and wind etc etc, pick the club and play the shot.

Just knowing the distance in yards doesn't pick the club for you. Agreed it helps - if my judgement is out by 10 yards I've got the wrong club. But you have to be incredibly consistent in your shot distances to really benefit from these.

I've not used one so I am quite prepared to eat humble pie on this. Always keep an open mind I say but I'm going to take some convincing.

thanks mic. despite my fears that these things could add to the pace of play problem and that, like imurg, I can't play to exact distances, I'll give it a go if I win one.

I entered the comp, though I certainly wouldn't pay for the shotmiser, as its the most expensive to run model thay do & I can think of better products on the market if I was parting with my hard erned, but if I was given a shotmiser I'd not complain too much, infact I'd be quite greatful.

When I looked Caddyaid was more and when I downloaded a demo course it wasn't as good as one on their site?! Its only 5 per course which is what you pay for a course guide, and you get more info on the gps? When i bought it I didn't realise it came with stats but i find it great after a round when i think i've played well only to find i missed 9 GIR?!!

Also, does anyone know why caddyaid don't compare Shotmiser on there site? They seem to be similar but caddy aid gets compared to Caddy lite and Sureshot which are just numbers so different?

Beaker, I think you must have been looking at the mobile version of Caddyaid, as that is the equivelent mapping to the shotmiser. And the caddyaid mobile program can be gotten for free. The Mapping on the full product is light years ahead of the shotmiser.

Notice the difference... hence why caddyaid is £300 to buy & there are different subscriptions & download prices to suit what you want.

Though tbh I think once you've bought an item the course downloads should be free, either that or markeded much as mobile phones where the phone is free but you pay a monthly subscription for a set period.

Good point on the stats though, but what's wrong with marking info down on your scorecard, probably take the same time to do too. That or get the sureshot 8800 for £200
