Wilson offer money back if Padraig Harrington wins Masters
Monday, 23 February 2009 Will Kelly 0 Comments

Padraig Harrington could provide thousands of golfers with their money back should he complete the third leg of his ‘Paddy Slam’ by winning the Masters in April, as Wilson pledge to reimburse golfers who purchased the TW9 wedge.

Those eligible for this promotion must have purchased any Wilson Staff TW9 wedge across the UK between 1 March and 9 April 2009. Should the Irishman come out on top at Augusta National, Wilson will offer a refund up to £84.99.

Harrington used the 54° and 60° TW9 wedges to great effect at Royal Birkdale last year in his Open defence and then at Oakland Hills where he claimed his first US Major, the USPGA Championship.

The TW9 wedges come in seven different loft options in increments of two degrees from 48° to 60°, allowing players to pick the right combinations to minimise gaps between their clubs. They are also available in two different finishes – anti-glare satin or black PVD.

“Padraig clinched both his second Open title and the US PGA victory with a variety of memorable shots around the greens and the TW9 wedges played a big part in his success,” said Doug Wright, Business Director for Wilson Golf in Europe.

“Now we’re backing his performance in Augusta - where he finished tied 5th last year - with a promotion that offers golfers a great deal.”

This sounds to me like Wilson dont believe Harrington has it in him to win it 3 years in a row, what do you think?

I've got to say I'm not a fan of this marketing. I know why they're doing it, to tempt people into taking the bet but it means that they're betting against they're player. I'm sure it will work though... hell I'm tempted!

I think homers right though, plus I just splashed out on some c/f ci7s so I'm too poor :D

I tend to agree with you Homer, but i would love to see him do it. If only to put Tiger's nose out a bit.

Regarding Wilson's strategy, if anyone was on the lookout to buy some new wedges, this offer might just be the tipping point that would make you opt for them, knowing that there's a chance (however slight) that you may get your cash back.
Wilson will more than make any loss back on the back of Harrington's win back*

* I didn't feel there was enough backs in that last sentence

I dont't think that he will win this years Masters and its just a way for Wilson to make a ton of money with people buying wedges in the hope that they will get their money back. Although they would be a bit unhappy if he did win because its a lot of money to be paying out, but they would be happy if he won because he has won again with Wilson, not Titleist, Nike, Callaway or Cobra. So that would put firmly on the Golfing map.
